When something bad happens to your people, why should anyone else care?

Someone removing an entire population from the face of the Earth is everyone’s concern.

I think op means why should they, as an individual with no ability whatsoever to have any affect on the situation, care about it.
I think that question should be asked about everything. There are people who have anxiety, depression, addiction, and other life altering results of stressing over things that they ultimately have no control over.
The conflict has been going on for longer than anyone alive today has been around. Many people who did have the power to affect it haven’t been able to, so why should any individual with no power at all need to care about it?
I have strong feelings about it and I think it’s probably the last, or next to last straw that causes WWIII, but I don’t really think about it much. I don’t read the stories. I don’t argue about it. I don’t wrong my hands, because I accept that there is nothing I can do about it.

What would be something that I could do that would meaningfully impact the conflict without investing a lot of time? There’s no material difference between someone who’s worrying about the conflict and someone who doesn’t care.
Same with Ukraine, Afghanistan leadership, Yemen’s starvation problem, Iran’s theocracy, Saudi Arabia’s treatment of journalists, China’s Muslim camps, Japan’s horrible work culture, etc. At some point, it’s harmful to oneself to give a shit.

Life isn’t about avoiding harm at all costs, and tuning out things that make you slightly uncomfortable.

Ok so what’s something productive that you’ve done to help the situation?

You can vote, you can voice your opinions, you can send messages to politicians in your jurisdiction, you can join protests. These will lead to change if sufficient numbers also perform these things.
If you ignore it, then yeah, nothing will happen. But even just being aware of it, and brining it to others’ attention, which may influence stuff like their vote, etc… helps.

Even smallest things you do can help because they also affect how other people think about it. But yes, you shouldnt worry about things beyond ones control too much.
