It sucks, but it is the price of selling one’s self to the public spotlight.
The current SAG-AFTRA strike is absolute proof that no, being an artist and having someone use AI to recreate your likeness without consent or contractual remuneration is NOT the agreed-upon price of “selling oneself to the public spotlight.”
Artists have the legal right to control and contract their own likeness, including the right of publicity. Just because AI can now readily circumvent that doesn’t make the artist’s legal right go away.

I didn’t read this novel but what I read in your top level comment is borderline unhinged.
No, just because people can emulate people doesn’t make it right. And no this way of thinking doesn’t lead to slavery. That’s an outright stupid thing to say.

I should’ve stopped after they called the “outrage” (presumably talking about the strike) “a useless path to slavery and authoritarianism.”
Instead, I kept going about a quarter of the way down and regretted it.
