lifting weights, said he’s the best wrestler in Athens said you be a celebrity the time with a wrestler name, didn’t qualify for the Olympics, got into philosophy, ended up writing about the evils of democracy and how it would be better if people like him where in charge in an absolute dictatorship.

Socrates students led a coup that killed about 10% of Athens, Socrates was found responsible in in the trial for inciting it, and in his trial he did not denounce his students and cried witch-hunt and how he was better than everyone else and deserves a reward for it. so he was sentenced to death.
Plato spent his life cleaning Socrates’s image.

that’s what I mean.
he’s been over sanitized and turned into a saint of sorts.
His teachings were always political, we just sanitized it to be about pure abstract stuff.

just frustrated they teach Socrates as if he was the founder of philosophy white completely ignoring the effects of his theories in practice. They teach Socrates but never mention the 30tyrants, they teach the trial, but not the actual crime he was accused and found guilty of. Socrates didn’t just talk about being philosophically humble, but against democracy and progress like reading and writing.
