Comment on What is the easiest to post / upload video clips to ani.social?

I suggest uploading directly to ani.social but there’s an upload limit of 25MB. If your file is bigger than 25MB, then you will have to re-encode it so it’s smaller. Something like 8mb.video will make it easy.

Otherwise, you can use any external file host like catbox.moe. I prefer if people upload directly to ani.social instead so we don’t put too much load on others.

This must be it. IMO it’d be good if this limit is mentioned somewhere or made more prominent - perhaps in the wiki or the sidebar?

  Yeah Lemmy’s errors can be vague sometimes. I’ll just add it to the sidebar.

  I can add it to the wiki. It’d be nice if lemmy surfaced these limits, even if it is just the error message.

    If you use av1+opus/avif you can get the most out of the file limit.
