I’ve had posts with hundreds of upvotes and one or two downvotes. It’s interesting to contact the downvoters via PM. Not in an accusatory tone but with curiosity.

No matter what you post, someone will downvote it. It simply just doesn’t matter

I think OP is right to be concerned, because while we don’t have karma like reddit (thank god), supposing someome was browsing old posts in a comm[unity] they might utilise the “Top of all time” filter or even the “most controversial of all time” filter - if our OP here makes a particularly useful post, e.g about a tech support issue - then I’m pretty sure having extra downvotes will actually reduce the reach and visibility of the post, using these filters.
Also in this case it was just useful because it exposes someone acting in bad faith on the fed.

But all of this does nothing about the value, or quality, of OP’s posts.
It tells only about the BULLSHIT VALUE of things like a “Top of all time” filter or terms like “controversial”.

It’s about the findability of the post and correctness of votes. A serial downvoter will diminish both, creating a disconnect between the real quality and the perceived quality.
No those three votes probably won’t make a big difference, but it’s a real problem if this becomes commonplace

Up/down voting should just be removed. It does nothing, means nothing and only causes people to bitch. It’s annoying.
I question the sanity of anyone who gives even half a fuck about fake internet points.
