Similarly, I started getting groceries from small old fashioned grocery stores when possinle instead of big old parking lot supermarkets.
- Comment on What a great idea 3 days ago:
Yeah. In fact, society is full of people who aren’t getting things 100% correct and we just have to be accepting of that. So i don’t like this post.
BUT: the fact that some people don’t get systems like this 100% all the time is proof that we should abolish car dependency and prioritise public safety precautions. [r/FuckCars]

I see the vision now… “give a man a handjob and he’ll still be homeless. Give a man a station to perform handjobs in the park and he might be able to earn a place to sleep if he’s good enough at it”
- Comment on Hostile architecture 5 days ago:
Three wheelchair users giving double-handjobs to two seated men. So the bench design still has you beat. It’s IMPECCABLE (im-pecker-ble), no slander that you level at this piece of ingenious public infrastructure will ever stick.
- Comment on Hostile architecture 5 days ago:
Lies! Anti-homeless this may be, but this bench was also created with the VERY noble intention of facilitating wheelchair-bound men to receive a handjob from two women at once!

Something about the Caleb entry when weighed up against everything else. If he’s that amazing, just stay with him! Guy taking the photo is cooked.
Then again, the whole thing is presumably fake, for the meme.
- Comment on Someone, I'm thinking with multiple accounts, is downvoting EVERY comment I make. Mildly aggravating, mostly sad for someone like that. Can I find out who and just block them? 1 week ago:
I think OP is right to be concerned, because while we don’t have karma like reddit (thank god), supposing someome was browsing old posts in a comm[unity] they might utilise the “Top of all time” filter or even the “most controversial of all time” filter - if our OP here makes a particularly useful post, e.g about a tech support issue - then I’m pretty sure having extra downvotes will actually reduce the reach and visibility of the post, using these filters.
Also in this case it was just useful because it exposes someone acting in bad faith on the fed.

- Comment on Is "depress" ever used in this context? 1 week ago:
See it used for “jam lids” (any jar lid actually, lol) or other packaging because those things can be complex to tell if you’re opening it correctly, so by saying “depress” it tells you to press but then simultaneously describes what happens as it is pressed (it goes down) so you know if you’re getting anywhere in the process. This is why it’s been observed more in technical documents, as rljkeimig notes.
- Comment on Is "depress" ever used in this context? 1 week ago:
I think it’s used for when something is kept lowered for a bit - so yes, some buttons, but most notably Jam Lids and Levers. Many buttons spring back up at you so those are just presses or taps

- Comment on Are hierarchies inherently bad in all aspects? or are there domains where heirarchies are good to have? 1 week ago:
Where is anti-hierarchy useful, or “flat-hierarchy”?
Well, basically in all the places you already see it: Small or Medium sized businesses comprised only of very educated professionals, who are therefore better at managing themselves rather than being managed by someone from outside of their field. (E.g engineering designers, graphic designers)
Allotment associations
University departments/colleges. Secondary school departments.
- Comment on Are hierarchies inherently bad in all aspects? or are there domains where heirarchies are good to have? 1 week ago:
Hierarchies are good to have if
- they help to organise things more efficiently and
- the leader is benevolent/interested in the wellbeing of the participants.
Hierarchies can be good if there is real movement up and down a hierarchy according to skill level - a good army for instance does not succumb to nepotism when assigning posts, but Judges only on merit.
Hierarchies and other constraints are useful in politics to ensure that decisions are reached quickly. The Netherlands, which has dozens of small parties and a very level playing field between all of the parties. Had multiple elections within a short time frame and was unable to choose a PM in their last (or penultimate) election.

- Comment on How does Chuck Schumer still have a job? 2 weeks ago:
I think it’s not even the fundamental flaws that make it so bad (they could theoretically be worked-around or fixed), I think at some point the system was captured by a group that to this day ensures both parties remain ineffectual and operate towards the same war goals.
Saying “the whole thing is a pantomine” seems like a lazy throwaway remark from some stranger you meet at a bar or your disillusioned uncle, and yet it’s exactly the conclusion you have to come to. We are controlled by the illusion of democracy and illusion of own influence

- Comment on If God (or any creator of the universe) exists would he be made out of atoms? 2 weeks ago:
To have created the universe, God has to exist outside of / independently of it. Therefore probably not made of atoms.
Fun fact - according to most christian thinkers/speakers I’ve listend to, this makes Christianity incompatible with pantheism (the belief that God is the universe, often referred to as “we are the universe experiencing itself”).

- Comment on Why did an old friend who stood up for me in school block me when I messaged him on Facebook? 2 weeks ago:
No idea - maybe the best way of contacting him now is to ask someone else you knew from school to reach out to him.
Maybe he just thought you were someone else he went to school with.
Maybe he doesn’t get messaged on facebook a lot, so you reminded him that it exists and he decided to delete it - i know i historically had no space for it on my phone so I got rid of it.

Getting older and seeing that it hasn’t happened yet xD
I now see the checks and balances in place to prevent society from actually destroying itself. Everything is more managed/controlled than you’d think it is, in a typical “western country” like the USA or Britain.
- Comment on Belief 2 weeks ago:
For me the society’s ability not to destroy itself is at an all time high, but my light blue would be 'the idea that society is sophisticated and high functioning’
