I live in Austria where every person is an organ donor and you have to opt-out of it. Even children are donors if their parents don’t opt them out. As a result, more than 99% of Austrians are organ donors. It never occurred to me that it could be the other way around.
Having a system like this is good, because “the other way around” does feasibly have room for them to ‘give up on you’ and harvest your organs. But living in a place where 99% of people will donate organs means there’s no room for this doubt.

- There’s coeliac which is the most easily identifiable,
- a generalised gluten allergy, which - last time i checked - needs you to stay off/stay on gluten consumption for a week leading up to a blood test
- allergy to one specific grain like wheat, but not all gluten.
- and there are people who just have really bad digestive issues but have found that going gluten free helps.
We should have more sympathy for people who have to grapple with this shitty, under-researched allergy

It’s funny you mention the math because i hear english is bizarrely efficient as a language (maybe from various distinct formation languages competiting in order to shape modern english)
I promised my wife I’d learn her native language alongside our future children, but that’s a future me problem.
Given how long it takes you might want to get started tomorrow! You can make it easier by finding a fun way to do it; e.g start with duolingo for basics then play a game/watch a movie you know well in that language.

Nah I guarantee NOBODY is going through the gluten free diet unless they really believe there might be a chance they’re allergic. And you have to go gluten free to see if you are.

This is maybe my least favourite ghibli film. Story seems cut short compared to the book - which might be the case for all the ghibli book adaptations, but it was noticeable here. That’s the price we pay for beautiful animation I guess

From what i know they’ve targetted places they expect illegal immigrants to work, like Target / Walmart (maybe both), and have more heavily targetted cities and certain states. (Minneapolis in Minnesota, though thst was largely for gangster-political reasons). Most rich americans live in suburbs or remote or gated communities, so i guess they get to avoid stuff like this.

- because we have closer ties to india
