Comment on I feel like half the neighbourhood is on fire and everyone is carrying on like everything is normal

just because you don’t agree with it, doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world. and frankly you have no voting power anyway, so your opinion is irrelevant other than you getting high on your own righteousness?
i voted against Trump. I wish the Democrats had half the balls he does. Evil or not, he is actually trying to change this country and deal with problems that have been festering for decades. Sucks that he is so shitty and heavy handed about it, but it had to happen sooner or later. I don’t think Kamala would have done a much of a better job on immigration policy, porbably just continued to kick the can down the road and pretend it wasn’t an issue.
Unlike you, I am not doom and gloom about any of this. Hopefully the democrats will actually have a coherent response/policy to these things and persuade the american people to try something different.

My point was your Latino acquaintances you mentioned are still in danger even if they’re naturalized, even if they’re born citizens
TubularTittyFrog@lemmy.world 10 hours ago
no. they are not.
you are vastly over generalizing things due to an irrational fear response…

There’s no danger whatsoever a naturalized citizen could be detained or deported? I pointed out to you that they’re trying to denaturalize citizens and are detaining citizens and claiming their documents are fake and your reply amounted to “so what?”

That isn’t how the law works man. If he can change the law, yeah he can do that. As it stands he can’t. Maybe it will change, maybe it won’t.
Focus more on facts, less on fear.
