I’ve seen folks say it’s him going full Kakarot, IE his Saiyan side comes out in full. Also I wonder if Vegeto would’ve wasted so much time if that was his main personality.

Personally, I doubt it.
Vegeta also tends to stall and fuck around during fights, though to a lesser degree. It’s seems it’s just intrinsic to Saiyans to not go 100% on fights until the last minute and Vegeto got a double dose of that behavioral quirk.
