Well, its an americanna cliche that, when young kids want a puppy, the dad doesnt want one. Usually because he knows who ends up picking up all the shit, literally. But after he relents to his families wants, he ends up bonding with the dog more than anyone else, including napping together on the couch.
This replaces the dog with a dad, and replacing the dad with a bear.
I was once the more realistic and responsible one in a long term relationship who relented letting my partner get us a dog. I get it.
