Thirty-one percent of U.S. adults disapprove of transgender and nonbinary adults living their lives as they wish
That sure doesn’t sound like a niche thing
Of course not…

I think you might be confusing our political system for a democratic one…
A minority of the populace voted for what’s happening these days. The majority of people just don’t give a shit, they’re fine with people living how they want.
It’s an important distinction, because the bigots always want the targeted minority to view all of the majority as an enemy.
If battle lines are just “bigots” vs “non bigots” then the bigots lose every fucking time. That’s why they always try to make it “majority” vs “minority”, dont let them do that. And definitely don’t help them do that with posts like OPs and comments like yours
Don’t get outsmarted by stupid fucking bigots. A lot depends on it now.

So…
You think 31% is “everyone” like OP said?
Because if you disagree with both of us, it makes no fucking sense to criticize the person who was off by 59%…
“Everyone” had nothing to do with my reply. You were saying that transphobia was not common. I quoted the relevant statistic from the survey you linked that implied otherwise.
I didn’t say everyone had a problem with transgender people, I said everyone was fine with celebrities making up fake names
Often they have to due to SAG rules. Only one person can have a name while being part of the union.
Like Emma Stone. Her real name is Emily Stone, but there was already one working with SAG, so she had to change it. She even prefers Emily.

Accepting that people can live as they wish is not the same thing as transphobia not being a common view.

You seem to be mistaking “majority” and “common”.

OP literally said “everyone”…

You don’t need “everybody” to be transphobic for transphobia to be a big problem.

You guys ever get the impression nearly everyone on internet message boards is autistic?
And I don’t mean that in a mean way, I mean that literally.

I’ve worked with very low functioning populations before and this shit really tries my patience more than my clients did back in the day…
But yeah man, it’s a spectrum. And when you strip out all the facial/tonal cues and general body language…
Yeah, everyone is going to act like the people who can’t pick up on that stuff. Because none of us can pick up on it on message boards.
Hell, think about the “/s” and how people would react if the majority insisted everyone literally say “I’m done being sarcastic now”.
Obviously you’re going to see parallels in communication issues.
