  I will indeed protect our individual rights if need be. That’s not macho talk. Masked men are not dragging my brown wife out of our house, kicking and begging and screaming. I’ve made the decision, drawn the line, I will fight and die first.

  To your point, I think Americans have forgotten that protecting individual rights is a fight that never ends. And yes, sometimes we will die doing so.
