And if I’d use it to address a bunch of friends whose ancestors weren’t slaves and who are not black, I think this wouldn’t be an insult. If there’s a black person nearby, I won’t risk it having a different effect though.

It does. You can use it, and I can call you a racist and white supremacist. All allowed. Natural consequences of being a racist and using racist terms is being hated by normal people and called out. Can’t handle that, maybe stop using and defending the word and use a different one, ya dumb coward.
