What is SLS?

I read it and still didn’t see it.
Lemmy has become a shithole.

Lemmy has become a shit hole. After the reddit API thing, I was full in for the switch. After a couple months, my third party app still works over at Reddit and there are actually enough non dickheads to generate some useful comments.
When that Relay stops working for free at Reddit I’ll find somewhere else.

Not that I expect someone named “friend of Satan” to be nice, but sometimes things that seem obvious to some people are not obvious to others. For example, if the milk bottle in the fridge is a different color (it’s blue label instead of red for some reason) then I sometimes can’t find the milk. Seems pretty obvious to most people, but it’s not too me.

They use the word but never define the acronym OR explain what it is. It’s shit writing.

Standard lizard shield, its the earth forcefield that keeps reptillian ships from landing on the planet. Pretty soon this place is going to be literally crawling with the scaly bastards.

[en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Launch_System](its basically NASA’s replacement for the shuttle we’ve known). I had to look it up myself as the article writer seemingly assumes foreknowledge of the SLS program.
I do wonder how much of the cost overrun is a lack of oversight and so yet another handout to northropgunman and boeing, but that’s just my good ol go-to suspicion tbh.

Its the NASA big rocket, for moon or Mars missions with crew and gear that need more launch power than rockets designed for LEO can do efficiently.

What is LEO? In my world, that is a Law Enforcement Officer but that doesn’t fit here.

Low Earth Orbit.
Which translates to below 500km orbits. Usually 300km or lower.
