  I’d guess the point is to get the joy of having children across to the reader without all the pesky yucky sex and birth and baby business.

  If she has had one, it’s a great indicator of fertility and being interested in having kids. Just gotta hope she wasn’t traumatised by the experience and you’ve got a good chance of more babies for Japan!

  that is true, it is impossible for them to have more children. everyone knows a woman’s uterus falls out the second they get a divorce

    My point being more that someone who already had kids is less likely to want to have more. Simple as that.
