weker01@sh.itjust.works 1 week agoAt the time of writing my comment I did not know about that other YouTuber and am glad I did not encounter them since.
That said I still think that video was not “hateful garbage”. While I do not agree with everything she said, I do think she makes some valid points and in other parts she represents her subjective tastes in video games.
Guilt by association is not itself a fallacy in all cases but here I think it unfair to not engage with the actual topic at all. This just furthers division instead of finding common ground.

Yes, I do think there is a tendency to condemn people from their associations, and that can lead to unfair characterizations - though I don’t think this is one of those cases.
Actually watching some of the video, her comments align pretty directly with conservative talking points and builds upon existing conservative “arguments” and outrage about the influence of feminism on video games.
I think nublung is basically suggesting we shouldn’t be sharing bigoted or hateful perspectives, which I agree with.

This is still not engaging with the content itself.
How does your suggestion not lead to an echo chamber? Ideas and arguments should be considered before dismissal.
Btw I find it really strange that you talk for someone else instead of making your own statements. How do you know what that user suggests?
