Used devices are a thing.
Also, what are you doing on your phone that ypyve noticed a performance difference in the last several years?
Nothing I know anyone in my life, does anything with their phone, that one from 5 years ago couldn’t so just as well (with proper software updates, like graphine).
Tl:;Dr why do you need the latest phone?

1: You can buy used, which means not giving money to Google
2: In what way is this “already double dipped”? Double dipping would be selling your data after selling you the phone, but you reserved that for “triple dipping”

I consider it double dipping to charge 2026 prices on 2019 performance. They’re saving the money not using performant parts and they’re still charging full price. The old Nexus phones were the same way, except they were cheaper than flagships.
Used is a thing but it’s kind of sketchy. And an older phone isn’t going to be supported as long.
