- Comment on Balcony solar is all the rage in Germany. Why not in the US? 2 days ago:
It’s a regular German outlet, but they would be more comparable to a drier outlet here in the US, although without being rated for such high loads as an american clothes drier.
As another commenter said, They’re used to cover the base load of lights, fridge, small electronics. Most all of these systems won’t have any battery storage so the power either gets used in the moment by the home, or exported to the utility. That part isnt really any different from a typical solar installation in the US. They’re just smaller systems so it’s more accessible to lower income people and people that live in apartments.

Yea most roofs are unfortunately not positioned ideally for PV.

Call the inverter manufacturer first. As others said, they most likely can help you connect it to the internet and check to see what’s working and what isnt. With their help, even if you do need to call an electrician, you’ll at least know what the issue is and can make the electrician’s job easier, faster, and probably cheaper for you.

Morally bankrupt and financially insolvent. Sounds just like a Tesla owner 😆

Does zoneminder handle secure remote connections on it’s own somehow? Or will I need a separate solution to access my LAN while away?

I’ve never messed with home assistant. Is it very simple to set up for a live stream like this? I agree that that the NVR solutions seem like overkill for my needs.
I’ve done some reading on setting up wiregaurd in the past, but havent actually deployed it before either. For a short term solution, opening up a port for it seems like a good compromise.

It is actually a technology question. My cat’s care is being taken care of separately from this solution. This is just a supplementary setup that we’d like to have to be able to see her sometimes while we’re away.

I’m not expecting an ad-hoc camera system to care for our cat while we’re away. We have friends who will be visiting and spending time with her every day while we’re gone. This is just so that we can check on her occasionally while we’re away. Her illness is long term and managed with medications, but that doesnt stop my partner and I from worrying.

Respectfully, I already have separate plans for keeping the cat taken care of. This is just so that my partner, who will miss her very much while we’re away for a frlew days, can see her occasionally while we’re away.

We have a care plan for the cat. This is just for our peace of mind.

Well you asked a question with a complicated answer. Dean Spade is a prolific and respected writer and organizer, and his thoughts on the matter are relatively concise compared to the volumes upon volumes written by his predecessors in anarchist thought.
