XMPP is the internet standard anyways, not sure why Matrix is necessary. Hopefully they become standard compliant soon. Venture capital startups reinventing internet standards in incompatible and inefficient ways is not helping.

@uranibaba There are apps like that but it's awful, breaks end-to-end encryption, lot's of missing features, etc. The key to interoperability is standards compliance. I make XMPP a hard requirement and pulled a lot of people in this way.
