economies of scale: high end components aren’t manufactured in enormous quantities. their price has to pay for everything along the supply chain plus profit.

for the shopping one, don’t buy anything online. don’t link your bank or a credit card. you’ll have to go to the store in person and pay in cash

Yep, buildings are the most energy inefficient thing we have. Glass is problematic, but also fire regulations that prevent natural air circulation in builings and then require AC. (Air conditioning/active cooling)

How many new subscribers would they have had in the same time period anyway?
Article says Netflix believes 100 million (half of all subscribers) houses were sharing passwords. Six million would be like 3% growth …which is how much more then they would have if they didn’t do this? 1.5% maybe?
It doesn’t really seem significant
