What’s on my USB stick you ask… A bunch of random shit I haven’t touched for 8 years so I have no idea what it is and it’s probably outdated, but I’d be damned if that usb stick is not In my keychain because “I might need it one day”
- Comment on Small VPN Access Device? 2 months ago:
Here’s an idea. Use a mikrotik router board. They are super cheap and support VPN natively. I use wireguard but it should also support openVPN as well. Maybe more I’m not sure. The small hap series are super cheap and works great.
- Comment on Router died - Replacement/solution recommendations 3 months ago:
Mikrotik all the way. But prepare yourself for a nice steep learning curve, but now that om past that i sware by it. Super fast and infinity configurable. The entire router configuration can be exported as a txt file and imported in seconds so if it breaks just get a new one and load up your config and you are good to go. Also the forums are a gold mine of information. What i love the most is just how fast it is. Setting take effect instantly. Also means it is extremely fast to lock yourself out of not careful. Again, steep learning curve but really good after that.
- Comment on Server as heating device - how do I do this? 5 months ago:
You can always dump the hot water in an outside radiator if you HAVE to cool the server room to keep the temps down. A simple fan duckt would probably doo fine too. However with the heat pump you can also heat a little hot tub to use outside in summer
- Comment on Server as heating device - how do I do this? 6 months ago:
You can even dump the cold air from the heat pumps into the server room to gain even better efficiency

Same for bicycle helmets. Maybe you are not crashing because you feel like pro rider and you are just biking 500m today, but someone else might run into you by accident making you crash. Same for seatbelts in the parking lot.

- Comment on What's the deal with Docker? 8 months ago:
I can also add that if you want to run multiple programs that each have a web interface it’s easy to direct each interface to the port you want instead of having to go through various config files that are different for each program or worst case having to change a hardcoded port in some software. With docker you have the same easy config options for each service you want to run. Same with storage paths. Various software stores their files at seemingly random places. With docker you just map a folder and all you files are stored there without any further configs.

- Comment on Air Canada must honor refund policy invented by airline’s chatbot 8 months ago:
Thanks. I do know tho, but im slightly dyslexic and English is not my first language so it’s hard for me to catch my own mistakes, while I can easily see it when others are making it. Also autocorrect is a blessing and a curse for me sometimes.
- Comment on Air Canada must honor refund policy invented by airline’s chatbot 8 months ago:
What i find most stupid about all of this is that Air Canada could just have admitted a mistake, payed The refund of ~450 USD which is basically nothing to them. It would have waisted no one’s time and made good customer service and positive feedback. Then quietly fix the AI in the background and move on. Instead they now spend waaayy more money on legale fees, expensive lawyers, employees sallery, have a disabled AI, customer backlash and bad press all costing them many hundreds of thousands of dollars. So stupid.
- Comment on These just go out with the other recycling, right? 10 months ago:
The amounts is absolutely minimal and mostly “harmles” even if accidents were to happen. To my knowledge they don’t contain actual liquid mercury but only the vapours. Of you break them by accident just ventilate the room well and you’ll be fine. Not to say it’s healthy, mercury is a serious matter and should be disposed of correctly. But no reason to be overly concerned if you break one by accident.

If you have issues with longevity you should focus on getting a new charger. Many chargeres over charge the batteries and completely ruins them. Do it once and they are ruined forever and they wont hold charge anymore. Take a look at lygteinfo.dk (don’t worry the site is in English) where he reviews chargers. I can recommend many of the xtar chargeres.
- Comment on How to block posts about Elon Musk (or other custom string) on computer 11 months ago:
It’s sadly not perfect as @Mananasi@feddit.nl also states, and since I like maths related stuff too and science it’ll likely filter out too much stuff. But I appreciate your efforts. An ai algorithm or a community created blacklist is probably the only solution.
- Comment on How to block posts about Elon Musk (or other custom string) on computer 11 months ago:
I have been wondering how I could do the same for X (formerly known as twitter). I’m tired of reading about it every day. I don’t know how to filter it out since it’s just one letter and it’ll filter out everything just containing an X in a word
- Comment on What to use as offsite backup? 1 year ago:
I have a raspberry pi with a cheap 5TB usb drive at my parents house that boots up once a week and pulls a backup. I use rsnapshot to create incremental updates that takes up every little space and is easy to manage. I have the drive accessible with smb should I ever need to pull a copy from there. It’s super slow but that doesn’t matter for an off-site backup and it is super cheap

- Comment on what budget 3d printer would you suggest for a beginner? 1 year ago:
People might not agree but a prusa mini is a great reliable beginner machine but sadly way over budget. If you can find a secondhand prusa mk3 or mini within your budget I’d recommend that. They are very repairable and reliable and god for high pression prints. The best thing about a prusa is the huge amount of guides and resources online where you can find help for absolutely everything should you have problems. There’s literally not a problem that has not already been described and solved on a prusa printer making it good for beginners. If you are going to make small high quality prints you should also buy a 0.25mm nozzle and you’d be amazed of how fine detail you can get (and long print time sadly, but no way around that)
- Comment on YouTube is increasing Premium prices in multiple countries, right after an ad-blocker crackdown | You either pay rightfully for the video content you consume, or you live with the ads. 1 year ago:
Most ads are for products in another country so even if I hypothetically wanted it I can’t get it so why waste my time on it. And if they are multinational companies I usually don’t want anything to do with it. I also just don’t want to be advertised to. It’s wasting my time because 99.99% of the time it’s irrelevant to me.

- Comment on What's the point of Octoprint as a Docker container? 1 year ago:
Besides what other people are mentioning it is also excellent to use docker if you want to run multiple instances for multiple printers. I currently run 3 printers on a single mini pc that is also running octofarm for having a single entry point for all my printers
- Comment on Statement from Linus Tech Tips about Madison's accusations 1 year ago:
That’s true. And I generally don’t agree with the practices that have happened. I just hope they’ll at least get their shit together and get better at treating their hard working employers. I’m not so much of a pitchfork and torch guy and generally hope for the good in people. LMG certainly got a slap in the face now and a wake-up call it must have been. I just hope it’s enough.
