Well trying to get a sense of Hexbear from a post at the top of my feed has me convinced Lemmy isn’t for me. Just seeing how radicalized they are has me afraid of the communities that can be bred here. Sunaurus you’re great and if all instances could be run by people as open minded and well intentioned as you Lemmy would be an amazing place. Good luck!

I appreciate your perspective on this. I think something weird is going on there in the past couple of days. I was pretty unaware of them until literally yesterday I found myself in the comment section with some of the most bafflingly insane opinions I’ve seen (imo anyway). I strongly suspect they’re being astroturfed hard by Russia right now. There’s no way to mark their community suspicious or something in our feeds? Lemmy needs more instance to instance controls than than just severing ties.
Imo I would give it a few days and then defederate if they continue to be problematic. It would be great if someone occasionally reviewed defederated instance because that’s going to fragment the fediverse so badly

I wonder what portion of all go code written is

It’s gotta be at least 20%

I’m pretty sure they began as bot filters. That’s what they became

I don’t entirely agree with you. It’s still very standard for wired mouse and keyboard to use USB A. USB A isn’t going anywhere for a while on desktops. I think you’re right about laptops though, it’s a much better experience

I’ve got a USB doc, a security key for work, and an audio interface. I also have a charger for my computer that plugs into USB C. It’s much nicer for laptops to save space but USB A is still better for my desktop since I’m not swapping things much and C would get knocked out more easily

You’re upset the bigot gets classified as a bigot? Do you also care for the flavor of your shit sundae? No. Bigotry is a hard line that does shape modern politics

- Comment on Is Foss really safe? 1 year ago:
Even cots/non-foss likely uses foss libraries somewhere. Also keep in mind that foss doesn’t mean the software can be changed at any time in the version that gets distributed. There’s usually checks and reviews when someone wants to contribute. A commercial software also isn’t immune to bad actors. I trust a reputable piece of foss far more than a sketchy company’s code
