What pests are wasps and hornets killing? The wasps and hornets *are" the pests to me.
- Comment on USA | Police Are Increasingly Encrypting Their Radios to Block Scrutiny by Journalists 3 months ago:
There are still plenty of analog radios on the market.
- Comment on we are but a gravy train in outer space 6 months ago:
I’m no scientist, but there is some debate about whether it’s a fundamental force. Some think it might be like centrifugal force which isn’t “real” but shows up in a certain reference frame. Gravity might actually be a result of thermodynamics and entropy.
- Comment on Around 80% of Rosebank field oil will not be kept in UK to boost energy security 10 months ago:
Theoretically, that would only reduce the price proportional to the amount of new production relative to existing world production. This does little to dampen market turbulence.
- Comment on US sets policy to seize patents of government-funded drugs if price deemed too high 11 months ago:
A good analysis would be to determine what portion of the drug market would fall in this category. I imagine the amount of drug R&D done with some amount of federal dollars is pretty high.
If this policy has enough teeth to scare pharma corps, then it will probably change their behaviors. They could decide that they need to use minimal federal funding which could slow drug development. I wonder if this policy (or others) is meant to address this potential.

It’s literally a drop. Some grinders need it more than others because they’ll make a mess of grounds everywhere without it.
- Comment on Astronauts dropped a tool bag during an ISS spacewalk, and you can see it with binoculars 11 months ago:
I’ll bet a 10mm socket was in there. If so, it doomed the rest of the bag and NASA should have known better.

That seems like it would dull kitchen knives very quickly

Oh. Well what does it matter what we’d say? I’d wager the people in this thread aren’t her core audience.

She didn’t fail to appease the internet. She did something to make 3 of her employees not want to work for her. Maybe they just used the time away from work to re-evaluate their careers and decided to make a move with no hard feelings. Maybe it had been a terrible place to work and the announcement was the last straw. I bet they have a much more nuanced view of the situation than we do.
