  @Chris Trottier Should be doable as a third-party Friendica add-on or Hubzilla app. Both already "federate" with e-mail anyway.
  
  Since it's only out-bound anyway, it should be possible as a third-party (streams) app as well.

  @Scott M. Stolz Okay, if a new setting comes, there should not be a switch in this case. An agreed-upon standard is an agreed-upon standard that shouldn't be overridden by a user option, and I'm certain that whatever will be decided upon will be the best solution from a technical rather than inter-project political point of view.

  In fact, the last two could be ditched altogether. But at least the first one would mimick how Friendica does things (with title = Article-type, with no title = Note-type). And it absolutely makes sense to send long, blog-style posts as Article-type objects and have Mastodon only show the title, the summary, a link to the original and the hashtags.
  
  In fact, Mastodon's handling of Article-type objects is most likely not a bug but fully intentional. And I'd really like Hubzilla to support it. Just not always.

  And I guess the majority of Mastodon users don't even know that groups exist in the Fediverse outside maybe Guppe. So it's easy to assume that Fediverse News is a person with a Mastodon account.

  @maegul What'd be more interesting is not only how many of all Fediverse users are FediPact proponents, but also how many are opponents, how many don't care, and above all, how many have never even heard of it. You can't expect someone who has just come over from 𝕏 to mastodon.social to have an opinion on this.
  
  Also, different projects, different opinions. I estimate 10% of all Mastodon users would even love to defederate from everything else in the Fediverse that isn't Mastodon because it's so non-Mastodon, and it does freaky stuff that shouldn't exist on Mastodon. At the same time, a large percentage of Friendica users is probably in favour of federating with Threads because Friendica's concept and culture has been about connectivity with everything that moves and then some since 2010.

  Mastodon generally has a problem with
  

  • everything with more than four pictures in one post (because Mastodon has to convert pictures in a post to file attachments, and it can only attach four files to one post)
    
  • actually, everything with more than one picture in one post (because the order of the pictures may be reversed, depending on where the post comes from)
    
  • everything which relies on pictures embedded in the text in specific places (because those pictures converted to file attachments are attached below the post)

  
  Technically, you may be able to view them. But chances are big that Mastodon will mangle them server-side, independently from which app you use on your phone.

  @Tim Chambers @marcelcosta @Jon If either are accurate. All I know is that CalcKey is growing like crazy because it gets a whole lot of exposure and publicity in the Fediverse, and because it's currently the most feature-rich ActivityPub-based project while still having a decent UI.
  
  In this regard, I think the refusal to include Akkoma and CalcKey because Pleroma and MissKey are already there isn't quite smart. Pleroma barely matters because Akkoma outshines it, and MissKey only matters in Japan while CalcKey is booming over here.

  @Jon @Tim Chambers Well, as for Joindiaspora, it's currently shutting down by and by as announced. It's only kept online for users to export their account data, but posting is no longer possible.
  
  In general, maybe Diaspora* has been taken out of the equation because it's only connected to a few projects on the fringes of the Fediverse. Diaspora* and Mastodon users can only interact in comment threads on e.g. Friendica or Hubzilla, if at all. Nonetheless, if it has been in the March analysis, it should have been in that from May as well. By the way, diasp.org is very much alive.

  #MastodonIsNotTheFediverse. And misskey.io is not Mastodon either; it's the biggest #MissKey instance.
  
  @Tim Chambers It's a pity that only a bunch of instances were analysed that were important in mid-March. The graph would look different if it had taken the recent #CalcKey growth into consideration.
