Ditto, apparently. Save I’m dark-dark brown. (And grey…)
Always went with “Marcus from Babylon 5” though as an example.

I am right.
“Actually in practise” isn’t what this post is about.
and at -1 I’ll be pedantic.
I am correct. Equivocate as you will. But I am right.

At -1 I feel the need to state, I am right though, no?
Much and not at all are two vastly varying definitions in science.
And in this, I am right. Downvotes or not. Hill=dying.

As an example, steel before 1940s didn’t have minuscule traces of atmospheric radiation in it.
Research conducted after the atmosphere had increased radiation would be different to research conducted after, in that vein.
Scavenging WW1 wrecks for non-contaminated steel for use in things like medical equipment is still ongoing, as an example.
Time can certainly change the answer to a question without any input from the individual user.

An aside: I wonder how much the global population-increase will lower once we get tech like holodecks.
- Comment on What unique thing bothers you about politics in general? 2 weeks ago:
Smart informed people can be manipulated as well.
It’s a flaw in how our brains have evolved. (Evolution is such a random bitch of a force, just look at me anthropomorphize her while typing on a QWERTY keyboard specifically designed to slow me down!)
We need to account for it instead of using it against ourselves.
- Comment on What are some cool infections? 2 weeks ago:
Not a real response to your question, but the first thing I thought of (it’s not an infection):
The scarring from a lightning strike can, to me at least, look hauntingly beautiful.
If you’re writing in any sort of fantastical setting you can just make up a non-life threatening infection that mimics it.
- Comment on First Impressions: Heroes of Might and Magic: The Olden Era is an excellent franchise revival, with an unfortunate art style that belies its quality. 2 weeks ago:
Been playing since HOMM3 hotseat in the late 90s.
Stopped playing when they left HOMM6 a buggy ruin. Inferno’s core racial ability didn’t even work at the beginning. And it took a while for them to patch that fix, IIRC. I still get irked seeing the list of bugs left they’ll never fix.
Ubisoft hasn’t gotten a single dime from me since, and likely won’t ever again.
Me personally the franchise peaked at HOMM5 Tribes of the East. Played a lot of that earlier this year again. Still need to give the 5.5 mod a try.
- Comment on Is it really worth starting a lemmy community? 2 weeks ago:
You have to be passionate enough about the topic that it’s not work, it’s just something you do because you enjoy talking about <topic>.
This ^
I make a fair few posts (mostly back on reddit but now I’m here) and I don’t do it because I get anything concrete from it. I just like seeing the replies to some of the random shit that pops up in my random-ass brain. (And I enjoy seeing how people respond rather just the content of their responses too.)
I like chatting about certain things, and luckily for me I don’t need to create a community because they’re already there. But frequently I want to chat about something within that community that doesn’t exist, thus, I post. Making a community is just the next step in that.
- Comment on Does each country have a book/library of the laws of the land that a commoner can consult to check if they're about to do something illegal? 2 weeks ago:
Bit of a tangent, and also very much IIRC…
In the US saying “sorry” can possibly be construed as evidence towards admission to guilt of the crime, whereas in Canada there’s a “Sorry Clause” of some sort specifically stating that saying that apologizing isn’t necessarily an admission of guilt.
As a Canadian I kinda got a kick out that. I live somewhere many people still thank the bus drivers as they exit the bus.

You can’t “fix” human behaviour you can only account for it and adjust.
Our attention will always go towards the moment rather than the constant. (Unless that constant is pain.)
Your favourite actor dies? That’s momentous. You’ll never see them in another production. You upvote it.
A doctor says something you’ve heard a hundred times over? You don’t upvote it. You relegate it to the same place the other ninety-nine went to.
- Comment on Is there a word or (concise) phrase to describe the paradox of sharing something (like a website) that you don't like, but because you're sharing it you're tacitly helping it? 3 weeks ago:
The problem is what you’re linking is something you personally disagree with, but that doesn’t mean it’s “bait” in the first place. (I probably should’ve avoided a political example as I think some are getting carried away with that, but it could be anything.)
Different example: I could link something about peanut butter though I hate peanut butter with all my heart and hope it ceases to exist. Yet you’d never call “peanut butter cookies recipe” engagement bait. (Well, probably never…)
The term or phrase has to encompass more than just political sides or something like it. It’s the act of spreading something you personally don’t want to spread. But what you’re helping spread could be benign from most people’s perspectives.

Definitely not exact, but sort of a variation. Hoping for something that hits it specific but for all I know there might not be a precise term for it yet. (Besides “outrage porn” but even that doesn’t hit the nail on the head, just a descriptor.)

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Dave the Diver Another Crab’s Treasure Cataclismo Black Myth: Wukong (*note some of these were Let’s Play’s I watched instead of played as combat mechanics like Clair/Wukong don’t interest me.)
I also spent a lot of time with an old friend, Heroes of Might and Magic V, Tribes of the East.

Pretty good series, pretty sure the author’s an “acolyte” of Brandon Sanderson, so if anyone reading this likes the Cosmere you might like this series as well.
Been on my “reread” list for a while but the list keeps growing…

Are there gonna be 3 levels now? (Real time battle, planetary overworld, space over-overworld)?
Presumably? There might even be a fourth layer if they go battle/planet/system/interstellar.
Are the space marines gonna march in a phalanx formation?
I doubt it. Round bases man, squares are for fantasy!
But really, I assume they’ll be in a skirmish formation.
Facing is only supposed to matter to vehicles and armour, IIRC.Which space marine is gonna be the princess?
I am! (Actually I love my 'nids so really I’d be a queen.)

I started a Let’s Play of that and liked it so much I quit early on and now it’s on a (lengthy) backlist of games I want to actually play. It looks really fun and I love the aesthetic.
