The context of the civil rights act is a little more nuanced than what this implies.
He stated that he understands the act was drawn up to combat segregation, but bemoaned it because it was now being used a weapon against white people.
Instead of shooting him, someone should have drawn his attention to the 2009 case of Ricci v. DeStefano. The case was about the New Haven, CT firefighters’ promotion exam results showing that white and Hispanic candidates scored highest, but the city discarded the test results fearing a lawsuit from minority firefighters who did worse.
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favour of the white and Hispanic firefighters, finding that discarding the test results violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act (which prohibits discrimination based on race).
Basically, the civil right act that he said harmed white men, protected them here. Thus, proving Kirk to be wrong.
You dont need to kill the Charlie Kirks of the world, you only ever needed to hit them with words and facts.
Even if you were to look at more recent examples that have been filed, they are not around the act itself, but the actions of individuals who are acting out their social media fantasies as crusaders for what they feel is right. Kirk was just straight up wrong here. There was zero need for this to escalate to murder. None at all.

Yeah, its morally icky. But Ill take icky morals, over actual hurt children. The government where I am disagrees, and has made both of these things illegal. I understand why, I just cant help but wonder if having access to these things could stop actual children being hurt? Like if theres a market flooded with AI generated pictures, it might, at some point, drown the market for actual pictures. Theres always going to be pure evil in the world, but if we can get the numbers down. Surely it has to be worth a try?

Doesnt really matter what excuse you come up with, its the same ones they come up with to dehumanize others, and so on and so on. Israel thinks Palestinians should be exterminated. Palestinians are Muslim. Muslims, for the most part, are not LGBT friendly. So are you cheering for every dead Palestinian kid you see? I would not, because you understand in that sense that just because they dont hold the same values, it doesnt mean its ok to exterminate them.

But think about the fact someone shot and killed someone else because of their political beliefs. And then ask why you are cheering. And then after all, ask what exactly his kids did to deserve having you, and everyone else, cheer the death of their father. Who, by all accounts, did nothing to them but love them.
If you hate Charlie Kirk, and I do/did, the last fucking thing in the world I would want is to be just like him, and start using his opinions and comments to justify me being a shitty person.

Depends. Jan 6th saw some pretty unhinged people get together with guns and zip ties. It wouldnt take much, for that to have gone a whole lot worse. And now we are seeing right leaders and influencers all over the world mark this as a call for violence against the left. I have a feeling that somebody, somewhere, who has no connection to whats happened, pay the price for whats happened to Kirk.
If nothing else, he’ll become a martyr. And that might be the worst thing of all.

It seems like the right wing have the market cornered, but thats only because we frequent left leaning social media holes.
