People are free to take some rando on the Internet up on their offer.
- Comment on FFS Plex, the server is on my local network 1 hour ago:
Aren’t they charging because it passes through their servers so you don’t have to expose your server directly to the public Internet?
Like, I pay $5 a month to access my Home Assistant setup remotely, although I could do it cheaper with my own AWS setup. But the money goes to development, so I’m happy to contribute.

I’m glad I really only use it for music, but the fire TV app works decently well. Better than the fucking Netflix app, at least.

Where’s the tankie who will explain how Putin is the good guy?

That kinda sounds like when I tell people to unplug their router for a full minute because if I tell them 15 seconds they’ll only wait 5.

I mean, that’s how it works for stuff that’s rusted shut. But you’re right that an acid, even vinegar, would be way more effective. And non-toxic in the case of vinegar.
- Comment on advertisement 3 days ago:
The article doesn’t say it dissolves mineral buildup. It penetrates the buildup to separate it from the surface it’s stuck to.

Even thin metal is hard to get to arc. Electroboom did an episode on it and he really struggled to get an arc, even with aluminum foil.

It’s pretty unlikely they were using actual cellphones for this setup.

It’s not the best idea to have a source of allergens, dangerous pathogens, and parasites around sick children.
- Comment on Upgrading ungrounded two-prong outlets to grounded three-prong? 4 days ago:
If you don’t have three conductor Romex running to the outlet, you really only have 2 options.
First is to pull new wire to the outlet. Second is to drive in a grounding rod outside, drill a hole through the wall, and run a wire into the receptacle.

Also, why would that attract the sheriff? I’m sure many dress up as Rump.
Because only their dear leader can say those things with impunity.

OP, I’d refrain from making your site publicly accessible until you learn more about networking and cyber security.
There’s a lot of risk in hosting a site from your home network.

The problem is that shitty owners encourage shitty behavior because they think it’s cute. We have 2 chi mixes and they’re perfectly fine.

Yeah, I’m done talking with someone who supports protecting child rapists.
I’d say have a nice life, but I wouldn’t actually mean it.

How is speaking to the actions of every Catholic child rapist “common sense”?
Your entire argument is based on the fallacy that every single Catholic holds the sanctity of confessional to the same standard you do.
- Comment on Sniffing out danger: Electronic nose capable of detecting explosives, narcotics, dangerous chemicals and more. 6 days ago:
It worked out for me. I got an entertaining story about being blackmailed by my school board, scout leaders, and local sheriff.
Plus, I graduated 2 months early because my school just sent over all my work for the semester and I did it in like 2 weeks.

It would be interesting to test this on career paths that basically require continuous learning.

But I have eyes and the curve they picked as best fit is really poorly fitting. It’s such a poor fit that is almost in a dead zone of the random points.

Could it potentially be an object orbiting around the cosmic center that just so happens to have an orbital path that crosses us?
I have to admit that astronomy is what caused me to change majors, but that’s because I stopped going to class when the lesson was, “This is a terrestrial planet, it’s rocky,” and my first exam was like, “If it’s 5:45pm in Tanzina on October 15th, how many degrees is the moon above the horizon?”

You must be a child rapist since you know so authoritatively what they’d say in confession.
