How can your comments not also be aimed at transgender people if you change the wording slightly? I have seen people say that someone who was assigned male at birth cannot be a woman for similar reasons you state about how a person cannot be black if they were assigned white at birth.

So it is not possible, in your eyes, that someone who lives in the US, a country which celebrates Pride Month, has Maori ancestry? I’d like to see your rationale for such a thing, because this is the first time I’ve seen someone make that implication, unless I’m misunderstanding you.
Consider how much of the userbase are from countries that celebrate Pride Month on Lemmy and Reddit. On both sites, I’ve seen a scary amount of transphobia aimed at transracial identities lately. It seems very hypocritical to me what during this time there would be so much transphobia coming from people who consider themselves allies.

Not all transgender people have gender dysphoria, though. That doesn’t make them any less trans.

Then it’s a good thing I’m not a troll, now isn’t it?
I’d like for you to explain why you think this question is trolling. Is it not Pride Month, where we should be loving and accepting to all trans identities?

Okay, and? You say that like new accounts don’t often make their first post after signing up and having that post get net upvotes despite the recentness of account creation.

This post has been up for 38 minutes and the voting is at -10. Why? I formulated the question as best as I could. To the downvoters, if you are downvoting because the post is hard to read, then tell me what I can do to improve it.

So because you perceive transracial people to have not been as persecuted or as oppressed as transgender people, that means it’s okay to devalue and invalidate their identities?

There exists a difference between sex and gender identity, but the word “sexism” is still applied, in some instances, in terms of relation to gender. For example, “Barbie is a girl’s toy, boys cannot play with Barbie Dolls. Boys must play with G.I Joe toys only.” Many people would respond with, “But that’s sexist”, even though the terms involve gender and not sex.

By your logic, would it not be sexist or genderist to use the word transgender? I think transgender identities as just as valid as transracial identities. Both are valid and I’ll stand up for people’s transracial identities.
