The Tech Policy Press outlet is a great news source. I do, however, wish they had more optimistic stories like an interview with a small business in the EU that is seriously benefiting from the interoperability requirements of the DNA. Everything is pretty doom and gloom. Anyway, this is not very related to the article itself posted here which is some great (not necessarily gloomy) reporting 🙂
- Comment on Instead of paying for a therapist every week I'd be willing to pay like $100 a month for someone to harass me into going to social events. 5 weeks ago:
I think what may be implied by OPs comment:
The other members of the club will harass you to come to events. Your dues are your indirect way of paying for your social event harassment (ha!).
As a friend of a club member, I often don’t want to go but am cajoled, and then I’m glad I went. It’s awesome. Highly recommend.

Could you expand on that thought a bit more? How is an app like the internet tool bars of old?
Genuinely curious. I’m a little too young to have experienced internet toolbars like the ones in your image.

Really glad you brought the opposite perspective to the table here 🙏 thank you!

It should be interesting to see how it plays out, indeed.
I don’t expect the US will entirely ban all forms of content moderation. I wouldn’t be surprised if the US moved more in the direction of the EU Digital Services Act: required transparency on recommendation algorithms and some sort of NGO trusted flagger system.

I also use Kobo. It’s really easy to download on Kobo (then remove DRM if that’s your vibe).

I’m planning on buying a pocketbook soon!!! I’ve been trying to get a sense of what the PocketBook interface is like on the device but haven’t found anything online. You don’t have a picture of the home / library page do you? Also, can you disable discover / suggestions on the PocketBook?

What do you mean? The guide OP mentioned has instructions for MacOS. Also, the software referenced (Calibre and DeDRM plugin) are available on Linux systems as well.
