By weaving ads into the natural flow of content, the platform hopes to deliver relevant promotions—think coding tools or job listings—directly to developers in their moment of need. This approach could foster a more symbiotic relationship between advertisers and the community, where sponsored content provides genuine value rather than interruption.
Mh, as usual ads will provide genuine value

aiming to fund enhancements while maintaining transparency and user value. Critics fear erosion of trust and misinformation. This move reflects efforts to balance revenue with community integrity amid AI-driven industry shifts.
Pure business bullshit bingo.

Well I was of course talking about the comment you quoted.
5 million a year would go a long way towards making their open source solutions meet their needs.
How is that „using fate instead of using their head“? Germany already has funds in place specifically for open source projects so that’s not so far off the charts (even though the amount would be lower) so what’s your point ?
- Comment on Hurray! This German State Decides to Save €15 Million Each Year By Kicking Out Microsoft for Open Source 5 days ago:
That comment does not state that imo. I interpret it as „If they would spend that money on the transitions and advancing the open source projects they consider switching to, that would help the process“. But maybe that’s just a misunderstanding.

Yeah but you’re missing the point. Them choosing to change despite the massive marketing budget of m$ is what my takeaway would be. Migrations are almost never easy.

Yeah i think it’s an education thing as well. People tend to not understand how stuff works and if they did they would be much more „paranoid“

Volksempfänger(propaganda radio), Volkswagen, Volkssturm, völkischer beobachter(nazi newspaper) etc. all originate in that time or were used excessively. So maybe not directly but there are lots of signs or rather word combinations that originated in that time.

There were some early-ish mobile games were like really good. Infinity blade Modern combat 2 The tintin game to the ~2015 movie Rainbow six Are some that come to mind. Key point they were not drowning in ads and had actual single player stuff while mc2 and r6 even had local multiplayer via Bluetooth.

Yeah he’s playing a lot with words that’s why I was so intrigued because I’ve thought about what a pain it would be to translate or rather how I would translate certain words.
There are a lot of neologisms in his books so I guess that’s an extra barrier for translations. Probably the books gotta make $$ for the translation to be worth the effort financially.
The city of dreaming books is good as well but does not hold up to the other two imho.
Happy to hear that the books that did get translated were apparently well translated :)

Rumo is my favorite Zamonia novel, but the captain was my introduction to the series. I must have read it 5/6 times, maybe that’s why rumo is now my favorite :) You’ve read/heard it in English right? Runo and the captain have audiobooks in German which i enjoyed quite a lot, I wonder how the translations hold up.
