Lemmy is a collective of uninformed Maoists. Probably young and never had any responsibility. Wait till they have a family and need to pay taxes. That exorcises the Marxist out of any sensible creature.

Charity should be a private endeavor, not a collective one, and it shouldn’t be a partisan decision. I want to decide for myself what I consider a good cause.

Democrats oppose the audit on the grounds that DOGE, a department within the federal government, should not have access to taxpayers’ sensitive data.
They just don’t want the audit.

Have you seen the list of saving on the DOGE site? It is already a very long list. Pretty sure there will be something on there that is worth keeping. Cutting something doesn’t mean it can’t be changed. Musk also re-hired some of the Twitter employees after cutting too deep.
Mistakes will be made and there is a lot of transparency about his approach. In Europe they are doing the opposite. You should be glad - you don’t live here. It is a bureaucratic nightmare.

What is on this list I wouldn’t want my taxpayers money spent on. 🤷♂️

So better to just keep wasting money? You know that is basically accepting corruption right? You know for sure that the average American will not profit from that.

Too early to tell. From my experience with data integrity issues first make the numbers manageable by linking data to another database (cross checking). If possible do a mass update then and what remains a red flag handle manually. This is a simplified version though, can be much more complicated. If some data is not in a database they can connect to or even worse is on paper, that can make it very labor intensive.
I have regularly coordinated and fixed data integrity issues myself. Worked for a large company that was often audited.
- Comment on Elon Musk says millions in Social Security database are between ages of 100 and 159 1 week ago:
Of course - they need to fix this. You need to know exactly what your tax money is used for. This shouldn’t be a right/left conversation. Data integrity should be in order. If not fix it - or have at least an assessment and a long term plan.
All the left does is using ad hominem arguments. If you ever want to get rid of conservatives - this is not the way.

No - not irl, and I don’t have other opinions there. Even have fun discussions with a very left-wing buddy of mine. And online it only happens here.

Correct - it is a leap of faith. Nobody can predict the future. I haven’t seen anything from the DOGE team that makes me worry though. It is going exactly as I was hoping for with the urgency that is needed. It is going well and according to Milei’s playbook.

yep - I am not even a conservative but a libertarian. That’s why I am a huge DOGE fanboy. This train just left the station, I hope it will be glorious and we will be able to enjoy a version of DOGE in the EU too.

DEI and basically most social studies are a waste of time. DEI was getting ridiculous - I think they’ve pushed it too far.
Even at the left some were thinking WTF…

So you’re smarter than Elon’s clowns? 😁 Sure.
Do you really expect that someone that manages a couple of companies hires clowns? .Who is the partisan hack? Why are you here anyway. Lemmy is full of Marxist freaks you can share your ideology with. Good luck.
Gives me an opportunity to plug the DOGE site again.

Garbage in garbage out. I know - I’ve been SME and assisted with data audits myself. This would have definitely not passed the smell test. It needs to be fixed (or addressed as N/A or null) - I’ve seen articles written in 2015 about this.
- Comment on [deleted] 2 weeks ago:
Meh - I think this all is probably true and you are just asking for another costly additional bureaucratic approach. DOGE tries to get rid of the DDR style bureaucracy. They provide daily updates and are more transparent than I’ve ever seen with any government.
List like this is the same bullshit we waste taxpayers money on in Europe. Some is in the open and some hidden for the public eye. Cut it all, and start all over again.

So death field set to FALSE! and age 140 is proper data? That needs to be fixed. Whatever the reason is. Period. No auditor should accept that.
- Comment on Over 20M 'people' listed as 100+ years old in the SS database? 2 weeks ago:
There is no good excuse for that is hasn’t been fixed before (and that includes Trump). You need to know where your tax money is going. Obama told the electorate he was going to slash bureaucracy and wasting tax money but didn’t do it. Apparently you need someone like Musk/Trump. Sometimes you have to break some eggs to make an omelette, If you are always cautious the media will stop you because they will always find a ‘victim’.
- Comment on Over 20M 'people' listed as 100+ years old in the SS database? 2 weeks ago:
Nah, I don’t think so. The COBOL explanation sounds more logical to me. Whatever it is - needs to be fixed.
- Comment on Over 20M 'people' listed as 100+ years old in the SS database? 2 weeks ago:
Indeed that will be a challenge. I think the DOGE team is great in analyzing data and find inconsistencies and potential fraud. Tricky part is how to fix it. Stopping SS immediately for the most suspected data and wait if someone shows up might be an option, but if that leads to regular people not getting SS that will cause a lot of bad publicity. Until now the electorate in the US is supporting DOGE but that can change.
