- Comment on I installed Linux on this 8-inch mini laptop, and it's my new favorite way of computing 3 days ago:
I ended up falling into using a surface for my travel and it’s been surprisingly good. I have surface pro 7+, and it’s small enough to use on an airplane seat, has good battery life, a great screen, and can do some limited gaming. With an upgraded drive (1TB for $100) for movies and low end games it’s a great little computer. They also run for 200-400 dollars on eBay.

These sorts of programs still exist. I use Nictotine, which is based on Medusa, but basically works like a better version of the old MP3 download programs. Good for finding obscure artists.

Your 3d printer doesn’t have other utilities to accommodate. The printing is basically just the walls. Every other utility (Power, water, sanitary, HVAC, foundations, windows, doors, metal fabrications, networking etc) are all still done by people, all made with options made by other manufacturers.
Your printer also uses quick setting thermoplastic, not a concrete slurry that needs to set over the course of days instead of fractions of a second.
This and typical FDM printing are related, but truths about printing our a plastic trinket don’t necessarily translate to large concrete structures.
- Comment on Power is not energy: why the difference matters [Technology Connections] 5 weeks ago:
I think it’s simple enough without even using analogies to explain. The unit Watt is Joules per second. Multiply by units of time and you get the total units of energy in Joules. Watt and Watt Hour are just that with without the additional units showing or being simplified.

I just find it weirder it took so long for him to mention the name. Usually he speeds right to the point.

Neal Asher’s Praedor Moon is a fun read if you want to see what advanced humans would do against space faring crabs.

Only for the front seats, and on something like the Y not all models even have manual releases in the back. The ones that do have them covered with a mat and no indication where they are.
On the model Y you need to removal a speaker grills to manually release the doors in the back.

I thought that was more in reference to the release being hidden under a mat to access. The fact that ‘a whole other story’ could be misconstrued two ways I think just shows how bonkers this is 😂

That’s if they have them. Apparently some models of the Y don’t come with manual back door releases.
