as the ideal situation is that everyone can be nice and not nasty when someone has a different opinion
Which is how I THOUGHT Lemmy would be when I signed up. It’s definitely not that way. I still love Lemmy, but oy, the user base here do not like opinions that go against the norm/majority. They like, seek revenge. Follow you around to downvote comments, etc. It’s crazy.

Let me guess: He was thwarted in his quest like a Scooby-Doo villain, and the cool Universal Monk showed him up, and everyone clapped.
Oh man, you didn’t even read it? I mean there’s recipe sharing, some singing, some laughs. I don’t wanna spoil it for you, but it does seem like a fun time had by all. Well, almost all. But you gotta admit, I do get accused of “main character syndrome” every day, so it really had to lead a story sooner are later, right?
You reacted to the community’s disapproval and requests for you to stop
The mods allow me to keep posting there, so I’ll keep posting there. In fact, posting some stuff there this morning!
doubling down and adopting a gleeful serial-killer energy
You mean, being friendly. Meh, easy to get confused about the two, I guess. But I do like your wording. Hey, are you a pulp-writer too?! Friend you gotta submit something to the Tales from the Cryptic Lemmy community! Come on, do it!
I’m completely serious that I’m concerned about you.
See that? I knew we were on the verge of being friends. I can feel it now—a friendship bubbling up from the depths like a long-buried secret, just waiting to explode! You’ve been holding it back, afraid to let it out, but guess what? It’s happening! You can’t stop it now. Hooray!
Excluding sleep and working, you’ve been averaging posting something on Lemmy every 9 minutes, every single hour of every single day for 2 months.
Prolific, right? Ya know, I’ve always felt a connection to those million-word-a-year men–the old pulp writers. They cranked out stories and words nonstop, and now here I am, doing the same! Just as underappreciated in my time as they were in theirs, but hey, quantity over quality, right?! I sorta feel like I am living my dream right now. Thank you for this shout-out!
You could have been accomplishing any number of projects with that, something you could be really proud of
But I am proud of my work on Lemmy. Thank you for your kind words. I’ve written two more stories that I am posting today and I’m posting some more articles today, so be sure to update your stats about me. Thanks friend!

Friend, I think you’re missing the point. The stories are a fun callback to pulpy horror and over-the-top writing from the 50’s and 60’s.
Nothing in them is to be taken seriously. Come on, the description for one says “Get ready, boils and ghouls, for a twisted tale of identity, deception, and a change of taste you won’t believe… until it’s too late!”
Do you not see the spirit that that’s written in?! Your reaction is hilarious to me! lol

You, kind sir, just made it into my new story. Thanks for your support, friend!

Oh man, see" That’s the EXACT line my new story starts with. Ok, fine, just know that in my next story that you won’t read it’s about a guy with a very similar name to yours, but it’s not you.
And you know what? I totally get it if you’re not feeling up to diving into the first story. I mean, it’s only about the ever-so-fascinating shimmering thread between reality and unreality, cardboard bathtubs, insect existentialism, drugs, truth, justice, and the American way.
Oh wait, hold on—crap! That’s my next story, not the first.
Dammit, see what happens when a whole team of Russians (or wait, am I bot now? I keep forgetting the most current stuff people say about me), collecting our precious Russian Bitcoinz, sharing one account to spread propaganda and tear apart the very fabric of America through Lemmy posts? Ugh. So complicated keeping this huge propaganda machine going is tough!

Thanks! DId you actualy read the story though? I think you’ll recognize some of the things said in it! lol
Can I use your name for the next story I’m writing? Not exactly inspired by you, but it’s fun too! But I don’t want you to accuse me of being a troll or attacking you personally. :)

Yep, I noticed that too, OP. And when I point it out, they claim I’m crying victim or that I have “main character syndrome” or that I am sealioning.
But you’re not alone. Other people notice this just like you do.

Same reasons that ad tiers are gaining a foothold in streaming services like Netflix. The consumer has shown they are fine with it.
Yep, I remember when Netlfix first put it out there that they would start with the ads, and everyone on reddit was like, “Canceling my Netflix right now!!”
Netflix is doing just fine without the 5 redditors who actually did cancel it. lmao

Enjoy the attention others give you!
Well, I mean, I did post a disclaimer right after posting the article, in an effort to deflect this “attention.” Um, didn’t seem to work. :/
But thanks for your input. I may not agree with it, but I support your right to it.

I’d just block that one nutter and move on. Are they here in the thread, by any chance?
Yep, and he’s giving you some crap right now in this thread. It’s @pooperNickel@lemm.ee
lol

chances are you know what you did,
Actually no. I have never read of Dubvee, don’t know how to get to it, I don’t even know what it is. I am genuinely curious, which is why I posted here.
And no, it’s NOT that important, but a user is accusing me of being toxic and using that as proof, but with no post history to that community or anything. And as I said earlier, in addition to not even knowing what that community is, there are no posts or comments or notifications on my end.
My main instance is here on Lemmy.world, and I only recently even learned what instances were. Not that I am a moron, but I am still new to the whole fediverse model. I was just a reddit user that came here after the suck was just too much there.
And even then I had to follow step-by-step directions on how to set up an account. I’ve only been on for less than a month.
Which does make me sound like a moron, but I’m learning! Thank you for the reply. And no, you don’t have time to go thru my comment history. The majority of which is me arguing with this one user who alternates from saying I am a computer bot to russian operative living outside of the US and/or a secret Trump plant. Even tho I created and mod the socialist sub here on Lemmy! It’s been fucking wild couple of weeks! lmao

I was going to get into Linux, but decided not to retire and went back into the workforce to be an elementary teacher’s aide. But when I retire again in another year or so, I am gonna look into the the whole Linux thing. Right now I’m Mac-based, so hopefully it won’t be so hard. But I actually can’t wait to learn all about it!
- Comment on Sorry for this question: What does "Syncing instance ban" mean?! 2 months ago:
Ahh, ok. Thank you! I was figuring it couldn’t be too serious since i had never even knew about it until this random user starting posting screenshots of it and calling me toxic. lmao
This community is awesome and helpful. Thank you!
- Comment on [deleted] 2 months ago:
Ahh, ok, well he has been following me for a while now and my account is only a month old. But another user said it happens often to new users, so maybe it’s just that.
One, weird that he went into that much detail, when even I don’t know how to see that info and never had any idea. And two, weird how he is laughing about the proof, without showing any actual comments that got me permabanned. But meh, as someone else said, the dude is probably full of shit.
Thank you for replying. You guys rock!
