- Comment on Other than Canada and Australia, which countries are best alternatives to traveling to the USA? 2 weeks ago:
I’ve heard it described as “NYC run by the swiss” by lifelong Torontoans. The grass is always greener as they say, but it definitely has a lot to offer over NYC in the way of cleanliness and habitability.

Toronto is fantastic though. I’m moving there soon, I love that city
- Comment on What kind of CAPTCHA is this? 3 weeks ago:
I’m curious what the script does, I’d love to reverse engineer it but don’t want to risk accidentally executing anything. Anyone with a disposable VM care to take the risk?
- Comment on Why dont more people live in smaller communities , appart from economic opportunity (WFH is making it possible if not prefferable too) 3 weeks ago:
I’ve been thriving since moving to a big city. I never want to go back to the middle of nowhere. I enjoy urban exploration, I love the diversity of business and people, and I love the sheer amount of community that exists. That just doesn’t exist outside of cities.
- Comment on James Bond is responsible for many wasted vodka martinis 3 weeks ago:
Wet martinis have extra vermouth, so my favorite spin on the classic is a “wet and dirty” martini. Extra olives of course
- Comment on James Bond is responsible for many wasted vodka martinis 3 weeks ago:
Regular martinis are disgusting. Who thoughT mixing gin or vodka and ocean water would taste good?
However, martini variants are great. I love a good espressotini, or a super dirty tini. The classic is just… Bleugg
- Comment on Other than a faulty charging port, is there any reason to use a wireless phone charger over wired? 3 weeks ago:
You can certainly have both. Fewer cables means more room for chaos, like my USB powered mini handvac
- Comment on Other than a faulty charging port, is there any reason to use a wireless phone charger over wired? 3 weeks ago:
I use one at work to passively charge my phone without having to deal with cables. Keeps my desk a bit tidier.
- Comment on I'm leaving the US for good, anything I should do before I leave? 3 weeks ago:
Currently in the same boat, though I’m a citizen

Figure out your car and drivers license stuff. Some countries let you swap one for the other.

Mail forwarding. Either forward your mail to someone you trust or pay for an international forwarding service. You’re still gonna be getting mail afterwards, like credit card renewals.
-
You’ll likely have to do the same for finances
-
Go through everything you own and trim down. Whatever you don’t get rid of, you’ll have to deal with customs.

- Comment on Is it better to leave a country, or stay behind to fight for it? And what about the ethics of fleeing instead of staying behind? 4 weeks ago:
I’ve spent my whole life fighting for progressivism and my right to exist as a trans immigrant. I’m personally done, cya

I meant from a Republican. They don’t use Lemmy
- Comment on How do the Republicans feel about Project 2025 now? 4 weeks ago:
You’re not gonna get an answer here. Try asking on a random Instagram APNews thread. Most of the answers you’ll get are from bots, but Republicans are taught to parrot whatever they say, so it’s basically the same thing
- Comment on How do the Republicans feel about Project 2025 now? 4 weeks ago:
That’s part of the problem, a lot of people don’t realize they are the oppressors
- Comment on Is anyone else getting failures to generate reports when reporting the constant spam from "Nicole, the Fediverse Girl" which originates from a different, new instance every time? 5 weeks ago:

The percentage of Americans who have witnessed mass shootings is greater than the percentage of Americans who are trans

- Comment on Why are entertainers paid so much? 1 month ago:
Can confirm from experience. I’m a performance artist. Typical community shows pay maybe $100-200, festivals can pay $1-2k but are harder to get and fuck you over in other ways. The real money is in corporate gigs and weddings, but those kill you spiritually.

Lightly bumping the airplane
- Comment on People who say water doesn't help after eating piment are just wrong 1 month ago:
I love spicy food. Water doesn’t do jack shit. Like the other comment said, all it does is push the capsasin further down. You need fatty things to grab the capsasin, or mild things like bread work ok sometimes.
- Comment on Why don't states in the US come up with their own health insurance program? So people can pay into it prolly less then what they pay now and the state put the money in a bank and use the interest for 1 month ago:
From what I’ve seen, it’s actually pretty nice when held to US standards (but then again, anything that isn’t privatized health insurance is better by default)

- Comment on why do transphobes mention pedophiles/compare them to pedophiles when most trans people (as do most people) hate pedophiles? 2 months ago:
Of the infinitesimally small percentage who might be, (a) it has absolutely nothing to do with them being trans and (b) I wager they’d be less likely to act on it than cis pedos since being trans alone already puts you at a significantly higher risk of violence just by existing. Not to defend pedos in any way- we want absolutely nothing to do with them
Use your brain
- Comment on why do transphobes mention pedophiles/compare them to pedophiles when most trans people (as do most people) hate pedophiles? 2 months ago:
Transphobes aren’t using logic. They try to brand us as pedophiles to try to get rational people on their side and to normalize hate, but it’s a distraction. We’re obviously not pedos.
It also serves dual purpose because most transphobes look up to politicians who are literal pedos
