We are required to show up one day a week, but my employer usually buy breakfast and/or lunch. It’s a decent meal, not a shitty half slice of pizza.
None of us dress up. Not the bosses, the lawyer, no one. We sit in the conference room looking like it’s finals weeks. No one cares, and we get more done.

I am a power grid engineer and we are quoting multiple solar systems with BESS capabilities a month for Texas. It’s not all diesel.
- Comment on Ordered back to the office, top tech talent left instead, study finds 1 month ago:
What happened at my last job. The absolute moron head of HR told the engineers with 5-20 years experience how “we are all lucky to have jobs, and we would be flipping burgers at McDonalds if it were not for him”.
Most of us left, he didn’t even give us counter offer and said how we will all be begging him for our jobs back. He was dismissed by the Japanese management a few months later and told to never return.

Also that the HR and management folks are the real useful people in a company.
- Comment on Ordered back to the office, top tech talent left instead, study finds 1 month ago:
Also most of these people in management roles seldom are the ones doing anything. A lot of them are either HR MBA type people, or sales. They don’t know anything of how a company actually works, what the jobs entail, or how to run a company.
Usually these companies all run in spite of them doing their best efforts to make it run as awful as possible.

And it’s not like public transportation (at least here in the USA) is worth a shit, it’s an option of last resort.
It would take me three hours to get to my job using a bus due to the routes. To get home even longer because the buses stop running and I would have to ride my bike at sunset.

- Comment on [Serious] Why do so many people seem to hate veganism? 1 month ago:
They also view it as a silver bullet solution to most of the world’s climate problems. I have heard and read so many of them say how if everyone were vegan, pollution would almost disappear overnight and the earth would be saved.
They of course are the loudest vegans possible and make the rest look bad.
- Comment on Republicans are pulling out all the stops to reverse EV adoption 1 month ago:
But don’t you see, unless there is one magical silver bullet solution that fixes everything then it’s all worthless and we should go back to dumping CFC’s into the atmosphere.

- Comment on Elon Musk Laid Off Supercharger Team After Taking $17 Million in Federal Charging Grants 1 month ago:
Elon isn’t the one reason. Tesla stock skyrocketed in value the moment Bill Gates and other hedge funds announced they are shorting the stock.
Other hedge funds decided “I will take that bet” and here we are.
- Comment on Tesla to lay off everyone working on Superchargers, new vehicles 1 month ago:
It’s because of the massive short term gains.
I made several thousand dollars in the stock market by buying stocks that announce layoffs. They almost always jump after the announcement unless it has to do with other circumstances like bankruptcy.

I agree with pretty much everything. I liked the combat a little more, but dad life has taken a large bite out of my gaming skills.
I enjoyed Outer Worlds. It’s one of those games I suggest when it’s on sale in the $20 range.

What is neat is how you experience sunset from a 360 degree perspective rather than just the normal western arc.

Had a few people tell me how they are in the 90% path and didn’t see a reason for seeing totality.
I tried explaining it to them in terms of sex: “I was 95% close to getting laid! Sure, that was probably fun, but you should really see totality.” Realized they just didn’t think it was worth it as an experience. Their loss.
- Comment on Tesla scraps its plan for a $25,000 Model 2 EV 2 months ago:
Their stock valuation rests entirely on large entities shorting the stock, and other large entities saying “I will take that bet!”. That’s pretty much it.

- Comment on Pupil behaviour 'getting worse' at schools in England, say teachers 2 months ago:
The veil has been lifted, and kids are seeing how little prospects exist to live a better life. Home ownership will likely never happen in the UK, and the Tories keep making life worse for everyone except the wealthiest people alive.

I work for a Japanese company, and they have a Japanese corporate liaison type of office that answers back to their HQ.
Taking that job involves getting a work visa and relocating your family, and people line up to take those positions. They love it because it’s American work hours. For those guys, it’s the best thing ever. You put in your 8-9 hours and then go home. No more sitting at the office waiting for someone to be the first one to go home so everyone else can leave.

I have noticed a massive drop in the quality of posting in Reddit over the last year. It was on a decline, but there was a massive drop off.
It’s anecdotal to what I have read off Lemmy, but a lot of high Karma accounts have been nuked due to mods and admins being ridiculously over zealous in handing out permabans.

I got into painting mini Warhammer 40k figurines during covid, and thought the lore was pretty interesting.
Every time I watch a video, my suggested feed goes from videos related to my hobbies to entirely replaced with red pill garbage. The right wing channels have to be highly profitable to YouTube to funnel people into, just an endless tornado of rage and constant viewing.

- Comment on Why don't we hear more about the 2017 Las Vegas shooting? It was the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history, we never found a motive, and it seems no one ever mentions it. 3 months ago:
What people are looking for is the manifesto or the “ah-ha!” moment. Columbine had plenty of this, as have many other spree killings. Even the tower shooter in Texas was discovered to have a brain tumor.
What people are looking for is a reason that separates him from the rest of us. The box they can check to safely file him away as being a schizo, abuser, or something worse and then snapping.
What they won’t get is the reason. The Vegas shooter was deep in his own mind and seems to have not shared these things with anyone. His life on paper seems kind of grim, but nothing in the way of committing a massive shooting.

It always cracks me up how people like the guy you responded to are sooo close to getting it. It’s a “yeah, and it is really shady that all these local channels and major media outlets are owned by the same mega rich people!”
And then, when we are so close, they start in the globalist crap. Dude, you almost had it!
