Inshallah they get nukes quickly, fuck American Imperialism
- Comment on Is it better to leave a country, or stay behind to fight for it? And what about the ethics of fleeing instead of staying behind? 2 weeks ago:
I mean, there are examples of people who defected from Nazi Germany to the Soviet Union (and other places too) before and during the war. Good general rule is that the earlier they did the easier a time they had of it overall.

Ignoring quite a lot of generalizations and misogyny, it sounds like you’re very independent and also want to find someone else who’s very independent. Might want to get that misogyny sorted out though, most people don’t particularly like people who don’t like them, I think that’ll hamper your efforts at best. Have you tried therapy?

- Comment on Is there any hope for Ukraine to survive as an independent state now that trump is desperately wishing for a peace treaty with Russia, even bypassing Ukraine? 1 month ago:
I’ll say what I’ve been saying for a while:
“Russia has nukes. Ukraine does not. The outcome was decided before it began.”
Russia will stay in Ukraine as long as it is profitable to do so, and will leave when that is no longer the case or can get something big enough in response to convince them to leave. The US and EU can supply arms to Ukraine to make it less profitable but even so Russia has far more troops and resources than Ukraine. Unfortunately the US also hinged that support on Ukraine not negotiating for peace so they’ve been dug in extra deep in this and lost at least a generation of men now.

Doesn't anyone with any sort of means or influence care? Where are those guys? 1 month ago:
This is a great way to deflect legitimate blame from the Democratic party representatives and operatives who actually deserve it, as if it isn’t their goddamn job to listen to voters.
- Comment on What procedures do you take to save and archive your games? 2 months ago:
Sounds like those old bdr’s should be checked and possibly rearchived 😂. I think the Blu-ray M-Discs are the ones that claim the longevity.
- Comment on What procedures do you take to save and archive your games? 2 months ago:
I mean, you should always check your backups and make 2 for good measure, but supposedly some of these newer ones are made for archival and claim between 10-100 years. Never trust such claims without verification but if true could be the best thing for archival besides punching bits in stone.

Blu-rays are a viable backup medium for long-term storage

Some do. Hydro is a net positive, not sure about wind but probably, but last I heard solar not so much. That may have changed since.
- Comment on Anon questions our energy sector 4 months ago:
Most are safer than nuclear, but until the environmental cost of manufacturing them is outweighed by the benefit of their use then nuclear is the least intolerable stopgap.
- Comment on If a leftist ran for president, would liberals support him? 4 months ago:
No. Liberals have always been closer to fascists than socialists. Look which way liberals in Weimar Germany went.
- Comment on Anon questions our energy sector 4 months ago:
The problem isn’t that they exploded one time. The problem is that that one explosion is still happening and likely will be for quite a while.
On the other hand, modern rock exploding plant designs are so much better that it’s very unlikely to repeat itself, so there’s that.
