And as an industry they return less than the sp500 so not only is movie viewing horrible, movie making is a terrible investment .
- Comment on Founder of Arkane Studios: "I think Gamepass is an unsustainable model that has been increasingly damaging the industry for a decade"; impacts sales 1 week ago:
Games are a lot more expensive to make now. While the tooling has improved, the cost of labor has risen-sadly not enough to keep pace with the cost of living. The cost of a game to the consumer is also a lot cheaper than it was in even the 90’s. So you have a lead gen strategy in gamepass that forces them to recoup in other areas but they still aren’t able to recoup enough. Because of political monetary policies which gamers don’t really want to think about, currencies are worth less (USD lost 7% this year already-$100 bill is now worth $93) and the game prices haven’t adjusted to compensate. In short, games are hitting a similar wall to movies where in a world with Netflix, everything is going to end up looking like mediocre trash if it has to be basically free.

- Comment on [Opinion] Why Are Americans Letting Israel Starve Us to Death in Gaza? 3 weeks ago:
A little confused by the naïveté from OP. The US gov lets a lot of Americans starve too, you’re not special. That’s because humans are seen by Americans, especially govt types, as those with and without something of value to give. Gaza was run by terrorists. Israel is run by people who produce valuable exports for American Intel and military communities not to mention a heap load of economic investments. Next time hamas should consider that route instead of using children as shields and sitting around with AKs pretending to be religious. It’s not the pretending to be religious we have an issue with, everyone does that, it’s the lack of paying the piper for the privilege. Not saying we don’t do similar things but like Leary said, “two words, nuclear fucking warheads”.

Always a bit shocked to learn people still use WhatsApp.
- Comment on News outlets in crisis mode as Google-led AI search push crushes website traffic 5 weeks ago:
I still find it weird that people don’t use Kagi for search. At least start page or ddg. Google hasn’t been useful for five ish years and admitted in court that they damaged results to prop up ads.

Fun fact, frogs won’t actually sit in the water, they always jump out when it gets too hot. Hilariously, humans are one of the few species of animals that will cook.

Sort of like how they moved out of Florida and Texas. Repubs want a brain drain for some reason.
