It’s been a problem for awhile. The media needs clicks so saying something is 7.5/10 doesn’t really drive engagement. Gamers have especially fed into this narrative because the media surrounding new products is always filled with hype and billed as the next greatest thing. It’s caused justified pushback from the community, but I think the pendulum has swung a bit in the other direction now. It’s tough feeling lukewarm about something when you’ve been told it’s supposed to be great. Additionally, the publishers, and some developers, in this industry are greedy cutthroats, which has made them easy targets for people’s frustration. The problem is now that frustration is focused on EVERYTHING involving the games industry.

I disagree with part 2 “jumping the shark”. The first game starts out with

Joel’s daughter being killed
which was much more “twist the narrative just for shock value”. The game itself is an enjoyable playthrough, it’s just a depressing story. Joel deserved what he got.

I love these games but I jokingly called part 2 a depression simulator. It’s intensely emotional at points and lingered in my thoughts after finishing it. It’s an incredible piece of storytelling and art.

I’ve noticed that anyone who has gotten one newly installed can’t stop looking at it for every small thing. It’s like built-in paranoia. Not to mention that every time I take a walk in my neighborhood I’m now on bunch of different people’s cameras without even knowing it.

There was a perk for one-hit knockouts and it would crack me up just running around and bonking people with a mace.
- Comment on Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing? 1 month ago:
Dead Space. The remake looks great and the sound design is bonkers. I love the utilitarian design of the tech as well. Headphones are recommended.

Same here. I’ll curate my personal feed but I’ll occasionally scroll everything just to see what random new instance I’ll find, and to keep myself aware of what the current rhetoric is with the various groups.

My friend, I worked in commercial printing for 2 decades. You’re still making assumptions that are wrong. There are ways to transfer files that are lossless and even ways to improve and upscale artwork. Why do you care so much about this?
- Comment on Elsevier 8 months ago:
You should maybe look a bit more into it. How do you think commercial printers or even hobbyists maintain fidelity in their images? Most images pass through multiple programs during the printing process and still maintain the quality. It’s not just copy/paste.

There are electric meat smokers that can be used as a dehydrator if you don’t add wood.

This is just another reason why the independent dealership model needs to end. They only make the purchasing experience worse, at this point.
