- Comment on I Can't Drink Now Like I Used to a Few Years Ago (26M), is that Normal? 1 year ago:
normal… but you can practice drinking and get better at it. a couple years ago after I’d stopped drinking I tried to pick it up again and noticed that I couldnt handle my liquor at all. but through practice and perseverance I was eventually able to enjoy various rums and whiskeys without passing out after 5 or 6 ounces. eventually got tired of it again so now I just enjoy a beer every few weeks.
- Comment on why is the world suddebly focused on the irsali-palestine conflict and hamas group? 1 year ago:
the media requires people to pay attention to it or they cant sell ad placement. bad news sells better than good news does.
the war in Ukraine is basically at a standstill, no one is going to watch it. media needs a new focus and Israel vs Iranian funded hamas terrorists is the next big thing. in a few months it’ll be something else - it’s just the focus of the “now”.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 year ago:
there’s “feel good” communities out there, but they’re not very active. the active communities are very toxic because they’re arguing about ideologies - tankies, *.ml communists, hamas apologists, and etc vs normal non-insane people. the arguing is why the communities are active.
if you unsubscribe to the active communities you’ll see a lot less negativity - but your feed will be basically static & boring.
- Comment on Could feral chicken take over the Amazon ? 1 year ago:
didnt the ancestors of the chicken evolve in the rain forests of/near China? I’m sure there’s latent genes that could express themselves within a few generations - much how domesticated pigs can turn to wild hogs in just a few generations

market yourself as a computer hardware/software repair guy at all of the nursing homes/retirement communities in the area. market it towards your target demographic, using font styles and language that they’d be familiar with in the 1960s - 1980s. be sure to show up clean shaven with a tie. be polite - yes mam/yes sir. charge through the nose.
I bet you could build up a significant dental fund within 6 to 8 months.
- Comment on We have had guns for 200 years but mass shootings only became common in the last 30. So what changed? 1 year ago:
yes, but we closed all insane asylums/mental wards too. some hospitals have a few beds dedicated for that but it’s not the massive infrastructure of the past.
- Comment on We have had guns for 200 years but mass shootings only became common in the last 30. So what changed? 1 year ago:
America’s greatest export is war. we’re a very violent nation. every generation since the founding has had a major conflict to attend - but most of our wars in the last 30 years or so havent involved a lot of “boots on the ground”. that pent up rage requires an outlet. mass killings/shootings/etc are a direct result.
adding to that, handguns are very easy to obtain - you can legally purchase them easily enough but there’s also a very active black market where cash is king and questions are not asked, backgrounds are not checked. since Americans are legally permitted to own/carry firearms (as enshrined in our founding governmental documents), the system cannot change. it’s not politically acceptable to request a change. no career politician is going to burn their entire life’s work in something that is destined to fail. even considering is is borderline insane.
dont expect things to magically get better.

- Comment on Petition demands that Microsoft extends Windows 10 support 1 year ago:
yes, but the Enterprise level license usually lasts longer than the individual license does. Enterprise level you’re basically stuck in that ecosystem, you’ve got tools written for it. I remember when IE6 was the latest hotness and then everyone struggled to get away from it for years and years but integral revenue generating tools relied on it.
- Comment on Petition demands that Microsoft extends Windows 10 support 1 year ago:
yeah. I have a tiny-pc (whatever the ultra sff is called now) that will run w10 forever - supported or not, for a specific use-case, but the desktop i’m trying to transition to will be linux. already moved my laptop to linux (both mint because it’s easy). have a different laptop that was decent 10 years ago that I use as a testbench to try out other, non-mint distros.
long term i’ll move to 3x computers but daily really only use two.

- Comment on Petition demands that Microsoft extends Windows 10 support 1 year ago:
yeah I’m mid transition myself - probably switch for good when win10 goes EoL. I tried win11 and hate it.
- Comment on Petition demands that Microsoft extends Windows 10 support 1 year ago:
or, you know, just switch to linux. several distros are basically just as usable out of box as anything microsoft has released.
- Comment on Anti-Israel mob reportedly storms Dagestan airport 1 year ago:
oh sure, totally possible, but a significant percentage would get tired of hiking through pitch black fields and give up. no, this was clearly a staged protest.

- Comment on Anti-Israel mob reportedly storms Dagestan airport 1 year ago:
street view for the area around the airport is interesting - there’s nothing there. it’s a good half mile or so to the nearest city outskirts. I suspect the authorities bussed a mob to the airport.
