Anna’s Archive does this. I think its a really good way to make it difficult to take them down.
Hopefully this hack starts some conversations on how they can ensure longevity for their project. Seems they’re being attacked on multiple fronts now.

I’m pretty sure both the App Store and the Google Play Store both require social media apps to have a block feature. Will be interesting to see what happens if he goes through with this.

- Comment on Who still uses pagers? 2 months ago:
I don’t understand that interpretation. The original comment was:
Israel could have taken out entire hospital staffs with this “technique”. Hope they remain human and don’t.
To which macarthur_park replied:
Seems unlikely considering only pagers belonging to Hezbollah had the explosives added.
They do not think it’s likely that hospital staff, Hezbollah affiliated or not, could be in danger. I challenged that. I don’t think they were aware that Hezbollah had a civilian wing at all, and that many public sector workers are technically “Hezbollah-affiliated” due to the nature of the political situation there.
No one has suggested that in this comment chain.
Good, then we should all agree that this was a despicable attack on Israel’s part and this whole conversation is pointless.

They said “Seems unlikely [that pagers would be in the hands of doctors] considering only pagers belonging to Hezbollah had the explosives added.”
That article directly refutes that. It is heavily implied when you’re all saying “Hezbollah” you’re talking about militants. Again, it is unreasonable to suggest that workers, including doctors and nurses, that are part of the civilian arm of Hezbollah’s de facto government are fair targets in either morality or intentional law.

- Comment on Who still uses pagers? 2 months ago:
Hezbollah, the de facto government of large parts of Lebanon, ordered the pagers and widely distributed them. Many of them went to civilians for legitimate purposes. It’s unreasonable to suggest that these are fair targets because they were briefly in Hezbollah’s control at some point along the chain.

There isn’t one, because this is objectively not true.
- Comment on DeArrow is an open source browser extension for crowdsourcing better titles and thumbnails on YouTube. 2 months ago:
YouTube let’s creators A/B test different thumbnails, but they can’t upload a bunch of them to feed to different demographics or automatically cycle them like Netflix does. I’m sure that’s coming though.

Awesome game, great technical achievement for its time.
You need to use your imagination to fill in the gaps, its kinda dull when taken at face value. And you definitely need a pen and paper to keep track of market prices.
- Comment on Google kills Chromecast, replaces it with Apple TV and Roku Ultra competitor 3 months ago:
I’m not denying that these features are a welcome addition, I’m just lamenting the loss of the cheaper version for use-cases where those features arent really needed.
I pretty much just watch Youtube on my bedroom TV, and I got one for my mom so she can watch Netflix on her 10 year old 720p 32”. I don’t want to pay $100 for that.
I might get the new one for Steam Link in the living room though, that does sound sick.
- Comment on Google kills Chromecast, replaces it with Apple TV and Roku Ultra competitor 3 months ago:
I get what you’re saying, but these new ones are twice the price of the 4K Chromecast. It sucks that they’re killing the $30 HD Chromecast as well, its great for my spare TV. I wouldn’t want to pay 3x that price for essentially the same functionality if I need to replace it.
I know there’s other Android TV boxes that are comparable, but Google’s offering was an easy go-to.

Airpods are more about convenience than sound quality. Not sure how cameras factor in there though.

There’s the RG35XX line of devices, they have decent performance and come in a bunch of different form factors. Wouldn’t be a bad choice.

How noob-friendly are those servers? Haven’t played since it’s era, but I’d be interested in booting it up again. I’d imagine I’d just get constantly wrecked by dudes who have been playing consistently for 20 years.

- Comment on If forced to choose one retro console forever what would you choose and why? 11 months ago:
That is true, it was the first truly modern console generation.
Ultimately I think retro gaming is rooted in nostalgia. People will always gravitate to the consoles they grew up with, making them “retro.” Probably why those rereleases do well.
I’m curious to see what happens in 10-15 years when games-as-a-service hits that point, and how the retrogaming community deals with that. With games like Halo 3 being a stretch now, I can’t imagine a world where Fortnite and Super Mario World exist in the same category.
- Comment on If forced to choose one retro console forever what would you choose and why? 11 months ago:
I mean it makes sense, I remember around 2006 everyone referred to the SNES as “retro” and no one questioned it. That’s a smaller time gap than 360 era to now.

Correct about Sunday, but a two-day weekend didn’t become a thing until organized labour fought for it in the 20s, and wasn’t codified into law until 1940.
