You aren’t wrong but you sound unhinged. That’s coming from someone who lives in the woods and runs Mint.

The CNC machines I run at work run from windows xp. IT disconnected them from the network, so I have to get.dxf files from my engineer on a thumb drive to program machining paths from. Ain’t that progress? No it’s lazy.

Right? No shit.
I’ll say it out loud, man I fucking hate working with these kids that are just entering the job market. They are lazy, OMFG are they lazy, don’t pay attention to a goddamn thing going on around them, nearly everything that comes out of their mouths is complete bullshit, hell some of it isn’t even real words.
…
… .
. . .
I can’t even begin to imagine what it was like putting up with me in my first few jobs. I’m certain that I was completely full of shit, spoke half in slang, tried like hell never to lift anything heavy, vanished when my help was needed. I was a fucking kid, just like the kids today. Everybody sucks at that age because everyone is still figuring shit out, realizing how little school prepared us for any damn thing, and literally still figuring out who they are.
Well, as one of the old fucks, now, I too bitch about the kids some, but I try at least to remember that they are just like us at that age, and I try to remind the other old fucks that they were too
The new slang is wack though.

I fully expect to see Trump nuke someplace before we are rid of him. Stupid is definitely not generational.

My wife was given a new work computer. Windows 11 and not enough RAM. She has been finding a new reason to hate it nearly every day, starting with how every change made to windows has fucked up her workflow in some way.
Me just nodding in acknowledgement as my little Dell Inspiron 15 purs along on Mint with Cinnamon.

- Comment on Anish Kapoor 2 weeks ago:
Kapoor didn’t invent shit. He bought sole rights to use the medium in art (no loss at all to the art world for which it is not especially useful) and that’s just a dickish thing to do. Kapoor has always been a dick though. Stuart Semple’s Culture Hustle made acrylic pigments that eat almost as much light and are safe to use. Culture Hustle has a lot of neat stuff for artists and hobbyists.
- Comment on Anish Kapoor 2 weeks ago:
I was pretty sure that was what that was and I was not disappointed.
- Comment on Anish Kapoor 2 weeks ago:
Vantablack isn’t even really a pigment. It’s a carbon nanotube structure that is suited to telescope interiors.
Stuart Semple’s Culture Hustle’s Black2.0 and Black 3.0 are both fantastic paints. He doesn’t half step, his pink is fucking ridiculous. His glow pigments are intense and easy to use. His chrome isn’t just silver paint, it’s like actually chrome-like.

And I’m sure you are correct about that, but I acclimated to metric measurement for both length and temp at work. Measuring size is just better that way and I’ve abandoned imperial entirely even for home projects, and the temperatures we deal with at work are big, so the Celsius scale fits. Maybe I compartmentalized, IDK.

0 as freezing isn’t bad, but boiling at 100 feels wrong. It’s not enough of a difference. Fahrenheit’s number values may be a little wonky and arbitrary seeming but it gives a better sense of scale.
