This is the second time I’ve seen GWAR mentioned on Lemmy today, which isn’t a lot, but it’s enough to make me smile.

Guh, I’ve been running Mint for a couple of years now and the only thing I have had it not talk to was an obsolete audio interface.

I run a CNC machine at work that runs from a Windows XP PC. Can confirm the OS is still dogshit.
Win 10 was fine.
I really like Linux Mint though.

- Comment on Trump scraps tariffs on beef, coffee and tropical fruit in a push to lower grocery store prices 1 week ago:
It’s ok. My coworker couldn’t make it make sense to me either. He also won’t sell me cow. I’ve asked. Every now and then I see half cows for sale, but the price is hardly better per lb than store bought and I would still have to break down the half myself which takes time I’m disinclined to spend without significant savings beforehand.
- Comment on Trump scraps tariffs on beef, coffee and tropical fruit in a push to lower grocery store prices 1 week ago:
I still don’t understand how tariffs on beef even matter. We grow so much beef in the US that it strikes me as stupid to buy from non-domestic sources. I live less than 10 miles from beef cattle in a field. Hell one of my coworkers’s family has a herd.

- Comment on People who don't wear earphones outside - why, and what do you do instead? 1 week ago:
Decent buds are as good as earplugs where I work. I seldom crank the volume. If I’m on my tractor no one is around or I don’t use anything. It’s a quiet little 25 horse diesel so that’s not bad. I’m a musician and very protective of my ears, but thanks for the concern.
- Comment on People who don't wear earphones outside - why, and what do you do instead? 1 week ago:
I like the sound of what’s going on around me. I enjoy catching little snippets of random conversations, the birds singing, the exhaust notes of passing vehicles. I prefer to be aware of my surroundings instead of insulting myself from them. At home, I’m very literally in the woods, and occasionally feral hogs may cross my path, but they make a lot of noise. When I’m in town the variety of sounds is novel and entertaining to me.
I wear earbuds at work, or if I’m running my tractor or lawnmower. I do drive, but I don’t always have the radio playing in my car. Sometimes quiet is just nice.
- Comment on When Xfinity has an outage, I don’t pay for those days. The government’s been shut down for 39 days so can I pay 39 days less in taxes? 1 week ago:
The fuck does that even mean? I’d like my taxes to pay for healthcare and education, at yeah food and housing for folks that need. I don’t mind spending my money or my time on worthwhile things.
Border control is horseshit, the war on drugs was lost before it even started, and bailing out companies that made bad, selfish decisions is stupid and benefits me not at all. Blowing up other countries, likewise, does not a goddamn thing for me.
A government isn’t supposed to save money, it’s supposed to spend it, but it should be spent well, in ways that benefit the people it serves. I’m not a tankie, but I ain’t no shitlib centrist either.

Psh, we don’t do anything but kill brown people with that money, well, and pay for Trump to golf.

Fair enough. The racism isn’t a necessary component to being a redneck but it is fairly prevalent. Rednecks don’t outgrow it typically either. Thanks for the straight reply.
