I still hate that I read that entire comic for the bit
The bit wasn’t worth it
- Comment on The Game Awards begins 11 hours from now. What are you looking forward to? 2 weeks ago:
I’ve been expecting it the last couple of games showcases where there were rumors too. I will say the new hardware launch makes the rumors more compelling, but I will literally not believe it until I see it. I’m fully expecting the event to end on a dumb note and to say “that’s it!?” like the last couple of times I got my hopes up

This should have been an actual marathon sequel. Not some live service trash that’s gonna be forgotten about in a year or 2 at absolute best

I literally saw protein ice cream pints the other day. 460 calories, but it has 30g of protein! For when you’re depressed and eating a pint by yourself, but still need your gains. I guess.

- Comment on Steam Hardware [new Steam Controller, Steam Machine, and VR headset Steam Frame, coming in 2026] 1 month ago:
My old WMR controller had that too, but it only tracked for a few seconds before losing the controller location again because it eats battery. And that’s with 2 AA’s. Unless this one is newer and super efficient, on one battery, I imagine it’ll run into a similar problem to not have them die in only a couple of hours
- Comment on Steam Hardware [new Steam Controller, Steam Machine, and VR headset Steam Frame, coming in 2026] 1 month ago:
Bit disappointed to see only 4 tracking cameras. Willing to bet tracking is gonna be horrid when at waist level still. That’s an issue that has been plaguing VR headsets with inside out tracking since the beginning, and it’s frustrating it looks like they still didn’t bother fixing it on a headset that almost certainly isn’t gonna be cheap to start with

No idea if they’re still around but that was the basis behind Swagbucks and AppTrailers back in the day. Bought a shitty $25 android phone that I just babysat at my desk running those all day long just hitting the next button when it showed up every couple of hours. Wasn’t a massive payout by any means nor fast, but I racked up multiple $25 payouts that way. Still free money for minimal work. As a broke college student, that was solid

I’ve said this plenty of times but this stigma of VR is a REALLY REALLY weird one, especially since I keep seeing it. There are so many arcades and whatnot you can try VR where it’s just tethered in place. So many VR experiences are designed such that you can absolutely play them sitting down in a chair. The idea you need a “holodeck room” breaks down the second you look into it all.
Not only that, but the Quest can play VR games, and it’s running a phone processor. You don’t need top of the line hardware, just enough to run a normal video game, which I’m willing to bet if you’re a pc gamer, you literally have more than enough.
I beat Alyx on a $250 headset and a laptop with an underclocked 1060. In my shitty 800 sq ft apartment’s dining room. And it was still an absolutely phenomenal experience. Was it top of the line? No. But it was still plenty playable. These days my pc is in my bedroom and I just hook it up and play in the empty space in front of my bed. You absolutely CAN sink thousands of dollars and a dedicated space into it if you really want to. But it’s hardly a requirement and still plenty serviceable without it.
- Comment on Have you encountered this? 4 months ago:
The quick way I was taught to eyeball it is to shift the decimal over one place to the left in the total, and double it. That’s 20%. In this case $30.53 > $3.053 > $6.106 ~ $6.10

- Comment on For Steins;Gate watchers, what do you think of Steins;Gate 0? 5 months ago:
I’m in the same boat as an anime only and feel like I was taking crazy pills. All my friends watched it and loved it, but I had so many issues with it and felt like the tone and feel of the show was so far removed from the original I couldn’t bring myself to like it. Outside of maybe the last few episodes, it just overall seemed mediocre in every sense and I don’t understand what the hype was for it?
- Comment on [deleted] 6 months ago:
I mean, I played most of my library in that space. I ‘S’ ranked plenty of Beat Saber maps on Hard. Played Space Pirate Trainer a few times. The Lab. Phasmophobia. Etc. You can genuinely easily play most VR games seated if you really wanted to, even if it’s not as nice as having standing room
- Comment on [deleted] 6 months ago:
Eh, I literally played Alyx on a gaming laptop with a 1060 in front of my dining room table in no more than a 3x3 cube with a $300 headset. That is not a very high barrier to entry for existing pc gamers at least. A Steam Deck exclusive may fare a little better since it’s a self contained console, but I doubt it would do that much better if VR was enough to discourage people tbh
