It’s wild that this site has full CFTC certification since 2020. Like the only things they were restricted on betting was terrorism, war, and gaming.
Apparently everything else isn’t a conflict to the government if it makes poor people give up their money to the wealthy. - Comment on Same betting app you can bet on the impacts of climate change, promoting gambling on a collapsing government 6 days ago:
I would hope the lemmy user base would be capable of telling its users that this is a terrible gambling site.
Plus they already have over 2 million users. It exists without me mentioning its name. The best i can do is call it dumb publicly.

Its insane that companies can get away with basically not having an in house PR team anymore and dont even have to pay all the ad makers for them. Just give a free product and threaten to never allow them to get another if they say anything bad.
Boom instant commercials at the cost of basically nothing.

Its so old the references go right past them but give them something to look up if they want to feel like they know something others their age dont, and if not you just enjoy the funny scenes and the funny movie that has actual humor instead of “well that just happened” quips.

Ha yeah but profits must only go up so all the casinos would just pivot to something else. Sociopaths would never accept a 10% margin even on that large of a pool of money. Thats restaurant margin territory and you dont see the mafia running many legitimate restaurants for the income.

Gotta get the money from the poors somehow, and someone with skill might win it back if its allowed to be skill based.
- Comment on Truly 2 weeks ago:
Imagine you are a boomer who has had a near infinite money glitch but its only ever been cost of living plus 10%. You always have that spare cash but it doesnt get above 10% extra. Its a boring amount and you want to be actually rich.
Now you could squirrel it away and actually save that money but thats boring when what you could do is gamble it every month cause maybe it will make you have a huge amount of money (which it wont) out of just pure luck and you didnt need it cause your basic costs were always covered so you never thought of saving it or giving it to anyone else other than corpos.
Now add people who also know they wil never have the money glitch who want to be as secure and see boomers making a small return acting like it was worth it and they decide if they gamble the few dollars they have they will finally get a return that saves them from poverty (it wont).
Congrats you now understand it hopefully.

LoL thank you.

Just imagine if divorce proceedings changed from basic legal options on who gets to keep the kids but to who could register higher on a decibel meter while farting.
Don’t you think that would change up the power dynamics? And if you keep changing it who has the power keeps changing too. For a while its people with IBS butt, next it might be people with overly active tear ducts (who can cry the most). Really keeps it randomized and balanced for power. And by the time people start getting eye surgery and eating more beans to win more, boom changes again.
Obviously an extreme but changing the rules would change the people with power right?

I tried to look up Hegel’s philosophy…
Would the kind of system Hegel desires be a mere idealized abstraction from, and of dubious relevance to, the actual world? No. For Hegel such abstraction is merely half-baked systematicity: it cannot justify its making one assumption, rather than others, about what is so unimportant that it should be abstracted away.
Help.

- Comment on Travel back to the days of cable TV with Blippo+, a time-hopping FMV game about... I'm not entirely sure, actually 3 weeks ago:
It was originally aired weekly on a schedule like real TV for that gameboy with a crank looking console, Playdate.
That console constantly feels like arts thesis projects.

Nope. There is an overarching story happening if you want to pay attention but they just recorded a bunch of absurdist content and charge you to watch it in their own software.
Its like a streaming platform where you literally have to watch the previous episode to get the next.

Its about watching FMVs made by the team that made Thank Goodness you’re Here.
Essentially you are paying a one time fee to the weirdest streaming platform ever.
- Comment on How much grams? 3 weeks ago:
Terrifying enough it is both. You measure in grams as a fraction of ounces until you get to an ounce and then you measure in those until you get to pounds unless its so much that you move back to kilograms.
Joint = 1 gram
1/8th = 3.5 grams
1/2 = 14 grams - Comment on Doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results is not the definition of insanity. It's the definition of practice. 3 weeks ago:
Oh doing something over and over and over again cause you want to get the diminishing returns milked for all its worth is absolutely insane.
It just also happens to be useful insanity.
Its what pushes humanity at its fringes is the insane going for more and trying to get the little they can. Most of the “sane” people arent much worth talking about. - Comment on it's just neat 4 weeks ago:

The intent is never good if they use overly broad terms to remove peoples access to this world in a capacity. Using a smokescreen of a “good” aspect has never been so transparent.
They have been demanding their censorship laws they are just finding what buzzword works to open the door.

Boomers complaining people are “turning left” cause their kid asked if Jesus really meant it when he said to feed the poor and treat others with human decency.

Probably a libertarian. Non party affiliated has been growing as people arent into fascist Republicans vs fiscal conservative policy and they dont want to be a Democrat in those states.
I know we have this, you are one party of the other thing but i think the “others” is gonna get bigger as a group and already has.

Microsoft edge. Or Brave. Or chrome on android. Regular pihole.
Every video i click on basically. If i use a front end like newpipe or duckplayer it works but no other way to watch any videos without logging in.

I dont know if anyone has noticed but…
Can we no longer watch youtube without being logged in? Every embedded video i see doesnt work. Every time i try to click on a video it tells me to sign in.
If i have an ad block running it basically blocks the website.I really think its the auto plays and the untracked accounts.
Youtube would rather be able to track every user and make more profit per person than go big tent all audiences.
