In fairness most of them have really shit software…

Its like Google loves to give me reasons to stop using their products.

Making a tv show about Russians might not be good right now…
- Comment on Some veteran YouTube staff think Shorts might ruin YouTube 1 year ago:
Yup, exactly. Some of the creators I’ve seen tell some horror stories about how YouTube work. Videos being demonised for random bullshit, YouTube giving 0 support to them as it’s Googles usual behaviour.
I feel like if some other big tech makes a decent alternative with ad revenue share it might fuck over YouTube. (And you can see how this can apply to X…)

I mean, you either pay the service so you don’t have to watch ads (like YouTube Premium) or you see ads that aren’t criminal behaviour or spam.
Either way, I fail to understand how people got into the mindset that every service in the internet should be both free and ad free.

Are law enforcement actually doing it? Because if they were people were not always making those ads.
- Comment on Why is the legal system so expensive? 1 year ago:
When only rich people are able to get to government because dumb people only vote the ones that show up on tv.

People shouldn’t be forced to use a adblocker for a platform to be usable.

These are probably the “random” ads iPhone users get because of the “Ask not to track” feature.

If you use the app there’s no blocking it sadly. What people should start doing it’s stop using that platform all together
- Comment on Why is the legal system so expensive? 1 year ago:
That’s why I get mad when I see people asking to regulate X thing.
Most of the times the regulation only helps a small group of people, and most times these are the rich folks who can afford to either circumvent or to abide by it.

I don’t get it why and how they get away. I mean I do get it, but it’s astonishing the amount of the shit these big corporations get away with. They’re pretty much profiting from crime and nobody does anything against them.
- Comment on YouTube Channel Linus Tech Tips’ Inaccuracies And Sexual Harassment Allegations, Explained 1 year ago:
I’m just waiting to see what comes out from this “stop” they’re having. Nothing is perfect, and mistakes are constantly made. And they’re right, these issues are probably “growth pains”, but sexual harassment can’t be considered “growth pains” and it’s a very serious issue. Sadly most women I know has suffered any sexual harassment in their jobs, including my own girlfriend, so I hope they actually run an independent investigation and find what actually happened.
Feel sorry for the new CEO, which barely joined the company and already has to deal with a crisis of this size, but the fact Linus decided to step down this year shows he knows stuff isn’t going well and that he’s unable to handle such a large company.
- Comment on Microsoft AI suggests food bank as a “cannot miss” tourist spot in Canada 1 year ago:
Yup, that’s the sad reality of this. The AI thinks people “like” the place because they go there often.
- Comment on Statement from Linus Tech Tips about Madison's accusations 1 year ago:
I’m not so much of a pitchfork and torch guy and generally hope for the good in people.
This is apparently rare on the internet considered what’s being said and done. While I criticised, I’m also hoping they just get the criticism and use it to improve, both the video quality and the working conditions. Both go intrinsically together, happier workers will produce better quality content, which in the end will be good to everyone.
People who are wishing for the death of LMG, remember these guys employ already >100 workers, many of them which have a passion for technology and probably are happy to work there.
So, get your pitchforks down and lets wait for the result of this downtime.
- Comment on Statement from Linus Tech Tips about Madison's accusations 1 year ago:
No, he called a new CEO because he knows he’s way over his head for years now. He even spoke about retiring some years ago, that’s how much signs he was showing. The fact he got a new CEO to handle the corpo bs is just a hint that he prefers to mess around with the hardware and just doesn’t want to handle more management shit.
- Comment on Statement from Linus Tech Tips about Madison's accusations 1 year ago:
I understand your point, but the issue is that they had to get an insane clash back from the community to start doing these changes. I mean, Gamer Nexus made a video calling them out.

Every single one and more.
- Comment on Ex-Linus Tech Tips employee alleges mistreatment and poor conditions: “no one gets a break” - Dexerto 1 year ago:
The point of them being over worked is being known for a while. I mean the whole channel knows about it, they even filmed a video with employees stating it and asking for the production to slow down.
The other accusations are what indeed are weird. She accuses them of sexual harassment as well insulting her and shit.
Considering that she’s one of those people who “change” pronouns (she has she/they in the X profile) I’m just guessing she wasn’t the easiest person to handle in a work environment (specially in a company that at the time didn’t have a working HR department).

I’d honestly love an UI for Lemmy that hides the downvotes. Fuck that shit.

I honestly don’t think he does it on purpose, I honestly think he’s just way over his head for years now, which is why he hired a new CEO and scaled back his position. I mean, who remember a few years ago when he talked about retiring YouTube?

- Comment on AI Is Starting to Look Like the Dot Com Bubble 1 year ago:
Let this sink in: some companies got $100k from VCs where the project was pretty much a software that made API Calls to ChatGPT.
Obviously the bubble will burst.
