Now they get to train on all the “deleted” comments/posts as well.
- Comment on Ordered back to the office, top tech talent left instead, study finds 5 months ago:
100% with you on the new hires thing. Was remote in college and have been for all my jobs. Maybe its a case of the grass is always greener but I would much prefer to predominantly work from an office. Maybe not 5x a week nor a sizeable commute but I feel like I’m missing out on a lot of career growth, networking, and team cohesion.
- Comment on Cubic millimetre of brain mapped in spectacular detail 5 months ago:
I think the claim that 24 year old technology is more computationally intensive than the ground breaking tech of the modern day needs the citation.
- Comment on Cubic millimetre of brain mapped in spectacular detail 5 months ago:
far more processor intensive than the most advanced AIs we currently have
This is the second comment I’ve seen from you where you confidently say something incorrect. Maybe stop trying to be orater of the objective and learn a little more first.
- Comment on Can we all agree that whatever version of predictive text we have nowadays is crap, and has been for a long time? 6 months ago:
Posting on the google store sucks, they make you jump through hoops and will collect data. If the app is already open source, there is no good reason to put it on the google play store.
Also, I don’t really understand the point of the term side loading when Android doesn’t prevent you to from adding other software sources. It feels like it carries connotations when all you are doing is adding a very well established open source software repository.

It would solve two of your problems though, that’s a pretty good bargain.

Yeah I’ve been very happy with Gboard recommendations, I disabled networking for the app since I’m using GrapheneOS and it still does great. Even voice to text is scary good, just have to download the model before disabling networking.

The people need to know how you use 13GB of ram worth of containers for web dev.

No doubt it’s the most widely run OS, I think the significance is akin to the difference between ios and android. Android dominates smart phones as a whole but ios still generates far more revenue, giving them arguably more power. So while linux is more widely used, microsoft still dictates computing for the majority of people.

If its paid for the lemmy devs and hosters could have some reward for their unpaid work.

Lemmy should totally implement gold. People are obviously happy to pay for internet points.
- Comment on Give me Options or give me death 8 months ago:
There’s two types of programming languages, the ones people complain about and the ones nobody uses. Go is still my most productive language and is killer for building webservers. I basically use it as a scripting language since it’s so fast to write, compile, and execute.
- Comment on Give me Options or give me death 8 months ago:
Thank you very much, I’m definitely going to take this for a spin! Can I ask if you or someone you know uses this?
- Comment on Give me Options or give me death 8 months ago:
Its an effort to keep large code bases clean. I think they should just differentiate between a debug build and production build. Maybe ensure the debug build can only only run if its in the same directory as the go.mod file.
- Comment on Give me Options or give me death 8 months ago:
I don’t think its inherently bad but it feels jarring when the language allows you reference nill pointers. It’s so effective in its hand holding otherwise that blowing things up should not be so easy.
- Comment on Give me Options or give me death 8 months ago:
Step 1: Remove the LSP from IDE.mod Step 2: Run ‘’‘go mod tidy’‘’

- Comment on Algorithms instead of source code !! 9 months ago:
Personally I will jot some loose notes down if I’m implementing something that requires it, but formalizing the design patterns/algorithms is very time consuming so I don’t.

This is the correct advice if you are looking to buy a new device. Buy a google pixel and put GrapheneOS on it!
