So just air gap those systems. No need to have every critical system online 24/7 right,?

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying, except maybe we should switch to show not tell. I understand that it’s not as easy as that but over the last let’s say 30 years, how much has the left really improved life for the rural population? And by comparison how much do we preach to them that they’re backwards and their world view is invalid?
It’s exactly as you say, the working class should be an easy win for us on policy, but it hasn’t turned out that way.
You can just say “well they’re stupid that’s what you get” or you can ask yourself why aren’t we getting these people on board while some greasy billionaire can?
- Comment on Meta AI is obsessed with turbans when generating images of Indian men 4 days ago:
Why would you ask a bot to generate a stereotypical image and then be surprised it generates a stereotypical image. If you give it a simplistic prompt it will come up with a simplistic response.
- Comment on How come liberals dont hate conservatives the way conservatives hate liberals 5 days ago:
Not to the racism and idiocy but to the underlying issues that fuel that anger.

But she suggested an alternative reason for the missing portions of the skeletons’ legs. “Amputation due to trauma is a simpler explanation,” she said.
It’s likely that the amputation was performed to manage an infected fracture or an injury
Well…

I mean I could see there might be clever optimizations, ways to handle wind power or even some kind of tidal/wave harnessing. But it definitely won’t be the way Columbus did it.

Yeah just build a wooden frigate that can handle 100 megatons of containers, simple.

- Comment on The Fallout TV show gave the Fallout games a huge player bump, as everyone remembers they like Fallout 3 weeks ago:
I was very pleasantly surprised. The characters were likeable, the setting very well done and it mostly struck a good balance between the silliness of the FO universe and still staying more or less believable. Loved Matt Berry’s cameo especially.
The ending was a bit predictable and melodramatic which felt like it went against the grain of the rest of the show, but overall really well done. Looking forward to season 2.
- Comment on You had no say in being born, but you have the ultimate say in how you're going to live. 4 weeks ago:
Depends what you want. Do you want your income to be stable and predictable and not too low? Then that’s your best bet. More interesting usually comes with less stability or possibly less income to start.
- Comment on You had no say in being born, but you have the ultimate say in how you're going to live. 4 weeks ago:
Tons. People just generally want to be safe and stable so they gravitate to those kinds of jobs.
- Comment on “Untitled Star Trek Origin Story” film officially added to Paramount Pictures' 2025-2026 lineup. 4 weeks ago:
They will never make another thoughtful, dialog heavy, diplomacy and reason focused Star Trek series. The mass audience won’t go to see it if there aren’t lots of explosions and personal drama and that’s the audience they want.
- Comment on Bethesda update Fallout 4 for your "next-generation PC" 4 weeks ago:
I honestly don’t know why anyone would play Bethesda games in 2024. Every time I get the urge I watch a bit on YT and I’m reminded of the horribly stale gameplay (which honestly started turning stale already 10 years ago) and terrible writing and I’m done.

- Comment on $70 titles are doomed to go “the way of the dodo” says Saber Interactive CEO 4 weeks ago:
You can’t predict the value of a new, creative, interesting title. You can predict the value of a well-known franchise, standard, tried-and-true release. But they may have overestimated the value slightly when they upped standard pricing to $70, time will tell.

The real question is how is it our business? If it makes them happy, great. And even if they did end up regretting it later, it’s not our place to judge, especially as strangers.

Just to second this. Feels like a pretty strong overreaction. Maybe you don’t agree with the moderator but their explanation seems very reasonable. They even agree with your stance, just that it’s not the right community for this post.
Also I’d say accusing lemmy.world in general of a pro-Israel bias is pretty far fetched. I see endless posts in support of the Palestinian’s plight every day (and rightly so of course.)
- Comment on EVs are one step closer to becoming roaming grid batteries 2 months ago:
This is probably the one redeeming quality of electric cars. We can’t convince people to put batteries in their home that most likely will cost more money than they save, but for a car people are willing to shell out tens if not hundreds of thousands.
