- Comment on He Did It: Trump Calls for Ending the Federal Income Tax! 2 days ago:
About damn time. And since there’ll be no money, just get rid of the FBI, CIA and the army. Who needs any of that? States can just raise their own local armies so they can finally have a real scrap.
- Comment on Base-building survival game Necesse gets a big update and Free Weekend 6 days ago:
Well it’s a cute game but I’d hardly call it impressive. Let’s see what the update brings but it was pretty bare-bones in the past, especially if you compare it to actually impressive indies in the space like Core Keeper.
- Comment on I believe him on a factual level, but not on an emotional level. 3 weeks ago:
If it was designed as a logistics network between France and the NL it would have a decent road system
- Comment on An emerging Texas megadonor just pledged $20 million to “expand a true Republican majority” 5 weeks ago:
Can we still call the GOP conservative at this point? Trump is just putting random billionaires in charge and advocating for an unlimited debt ceiling to throw more good money after bad. What happened to fiscal responsibility? Last time he was president he raised the national debt more than any other president since Reagan just for more tax breaks for the wealthy. How is any of this still “conservative”?
- Comment on Bernie Sanders & Trump Against Credit Card Interest (Usury) 2 months ago:
You can downvote this for having “Trump” in the title but we should take our victories where we can. If Bernie can get Trump to support this cap then that’s a win for all of us.
- Comment on Microsoft fires employees who organized vigil for Palestinians killed in Gaza 2 months ago:
I mean yeah absolutely protest your bosses unethical behavior but don’t be surprised if they then kick you out. But that’s good, more media coverage for your stated goal.
- Comment on The Video Game History Foundation is “not done fighting” after US Copyright Office refuses exemption to aid preservation 2 months ago:
Don’t worry, we’re going to preserve these games anyway. Copyright means absolutely nothing in the digital age.

Also overly intensive farming, especially cattle farming, is destroying the little bit of nature we have.

May as well drop all facade now.

Yeah agreed, all life is sacred except the ones we don’t like.
- Comment on 3D printed 'suicide pod' used by a human for the first time 4 months ago:
The register is a tech magazine, so the DIY/3D printed angle is relevant here. It’s also relevant because it would, at least to some degree, someone to build it themselves in places where perhaps the legality of self determination is questionable. The Register is not a place where you’ll normally find unnecessary clickbait headlines.
- Comment on “Model collapse” threatens to kill progress on generative AIs 4 months ago:
So it’s not a problem with AI. It’s just a problem for some mayfly companies that try to profit from the latest trend?
- Comment on Is linux actually gaming ready or is it just not for me? 4 months ago:
Shutup still works but I wouldn’t trust it to prevent all telemetry. I wouldn’t trust Microsoft not to have other telemetry that’s not part of their services that can be turned off.
- Comment on Is linux actually gaming ready or is it just not for me? 4 months ago:
Unlikely. It won’t run optimally but it shouldn’t be the cause of crashes or bugs. If you’re not sure you can run a ram test (memtest.org)
- Comment on "Ranma ½" (Remake) New Key Visual, PV 6 months ago:
They did a surprisingly good job with Urusei Yatsura, will be fun to see this one.
- Comment on Welp ... 6 months ago:
Same. I keep hearing folks mention this but it’s not like AI developers aren’t aware of this (apart from a bunch of shitty startups that would fail no matter what) One way to deal with it for example is Microsoft is shelling out so much for “pre-AI” datasets (Reddit) but I’m sure there’s a lot more of those kinds of initiatives.
Google on the other hand is going to be hard pressed to deal with the ever increasing deluge of AI spam.

Some company decided to change their logo because it looks dated and might give the wrong impression. How is this even an issue?

- Comment on How come liberals dont hate conservatives the way conservatives hate liberals 8 months ago:
I don’t disagree with what you’re saying, except maybe we should switch to show not tell. I understand that it’s not as easy as that but over the last let’s say 30 years, how much has the left really improved life for the rural population? And by comparison how much do we preach to them that they’re backwards and their world view is invalid?
It’s exactly as you say, the working class should be an easy win for us on policy, but it hasn’t turned out that way.
You can just say “well they’re stupid that’s what you get” or you can ask yourself why aren’t we getting these people on board while some greasy billionaire can?
- Comment on Meta AI is obsessed with turbans when generating images of Indian men 8 months ago:
Why would you ask a bot to generate a stereotypical image and then be surprised it generates a stereotypical image. If you give it a simplistic prompt it will come up with a simplistic response.
- Comment on How come liberals dont hate conservatives the way conservatives hate liberals 8 months ago:
Not to the racism and idiocy but to the underlying issues that fuel that anger.

But she suggested an alternative reason for the missing portions of the skeletons’ legs. “Amputation due to trauma is a simpler explanation,” she said.
It’s likely that the amputation was performed to manage an infected fracture or an injury
Well…
- Comment on fossil fuels 9 months ago:
I mean I could see there might be clever optimizations, ways to handle wind power or even some kind of tidal/wave harnessing. But it definitely won’t be the way Columbus did it.
- Comment on fossil fuels 9 months ago:
Yeah just build a wooden frigate that can handle 100 megatons of containers, simple.
