Yeah, I’ve noticed it this week I think. It’s a bummer, on the one hand I understand that you need to pay the bills, on the other I’m not interested in ads. Maybe I should see how much a subscription is, because I’m not sure how they can generate enough revenue with ads with their target audience. But something that used to be free to just read tech articles suddenly becoming subscription only does feel a bit weird.

My problem is I just don’t really like wearing watches. I want to, I like watches and I like having the time on me without getting distracted by my phone. But I just can’t find a comfortable band, I don’t like tight shirt cuffs either.

I feel like withings cornered the market on hybrids. They are a little pricey but they are built very well.

I’ve been playing since August and it’s a great game. It helps keep me exercising too, sometimes you just gotta go for a walk to chop some logs or something.

I gave it a shot. It made more sense before Firefox added the accounts and syncing features, it was a way to share links/bookmarks between devices for me. I have since decided that syncing these things across devices is less useful than I had imagined it so I just don’t use either option.

$60 per month (if you sign a 1 year agreement) is sky high for software subscriptions. Sounds like Stockholm syndrome.

darktable.org Darktable is like Adobe Lightroom but open source, and I honestly think it’s better at this point.

Also, if you can disconnect the plug and read what the voltage is on those holes that might also lead us in the right direction
- Comment on [Unsolved] Looking for assistance figuring out how to fix this connector. 4 months ago:
It looks as though this is a 5 pin connector, and you are saying that the second pin from the top is not connected but the black wire looks like it’s in that spot. Black is often used for ground, is it possible that the second pin connects to ground instead of one of the through holes? It also looks like there are labels right below the holes that tell you what they are for. If I had to guess, black is ground and red is VCC. The other two are a bit of a mystery, but if you know that the blue wire goes up top then the green is probably the LED. This is all a guess, I don’t actually know. So from the top it might be blue, black, green and then red. You could theoretically just clip the crimps off the wires and solder them in, it’s the quickest and cheapest way. The more correctly way to fix it would be to identify the connector, and buy a crimping kit for that style connector. Common brands are Molex, Amphenol, and JST. It’s probably a JST or a knock off, but they make a boatload of different products. Are there any numbers on either the socket or plug?

- Comment on ZeniMax workers union votes to authorize a strike against Microsoft over stalled contract negotiations 4 months ago:
I’m going to assume that this is the death of Zenimax in reality. Microsoft doesn’t do unions, and they will push all the union workers to their breaking point just to prove a point. Elder scrolls fans should boycott Microsoft but it won’t make a dent TBH.

It also works on simple objects, not as good as Google yet but good enough for me. I can search for keyboard or bicycle and find pictures that way.

I dumped Google photos for self hosted immich and it’s been great. Not sure if it has the ability to connect to photo frames but if you already self host anything else it’s not too much work to setup.

The hair helps to keep things dry, instead of letting the sweat build up in the area. Almost the opposite of a lubricant, but I would agree with the idea. I almost never do a smooth shave, but I will trim it.

I think everyone has a sort of ‘social battery’ and I think extroverts just have a bit more capacity than introverts. It’s easy for both to run out, and want some alone time, but it takes less time for some of us.
- Comment on YouTube is stepping up its efforts to sell you other streaming services 5 months ago:
Playlists, albums, and just the subscription prices. Bundling my price with YouTube premium to make it seem like a deal when I just wanted music and my price was going up. There are still some remixes and things that I can’t find anymore that used to be on my regular playlists. I wish they gave me a little more heads up so I could document some of my playlists. I also purchased albums and Google straight up ripped us off. They should have refunded every purchase we made, or at the very least gave us Google play credit as a show of goodwill, but instead we were told to just try YouTube music, it’s better. Does anybody have a better service for buying books and comics? I really like Google books, bubble zoom is awesome for comics on the go and the syncing between devices is convenient. But I’m so sick of their nonsense, I don’t trust them to not try the same shit with books and I’m reluctant to give them any more of my cash.
- Comment on YouTube is stepping up its efforts to sell you other streaming services 5 months ago:
That’s too bad. Because I don’t know anyone who’s excited to give YouTube any money at this point. I used to buy some movies from Google once in a while, but after they did the bait and switch with music and movies I don’t trust their media store anymore. It’s clearly not profitable enough for alphabet. How much longer are the assets I already paid for going to be available? When will YouTube decide those licenses aren’t worth continuing? I think consumer trust in Google is probably at an all time low.

And that’s why I don’t preorder games anymore. I’m sure they will fix it, eventually, but it sucks for people who want to play it this weekend.
