I read an interview with a zoologist which described cats as evolutionarily perfect. Their dna really only varies primarily for size. All cats all over the world have survived with no need to seriously adapt to their environment.

Well, she clearly states that God never gives no answer. You see, God is omniscient. He knows what you have prayed for and you, by knowing that he is omniscient, know that He knows. Thus, if you don’t get what you have prayed for then you can safely assume, despite God not explicitly stating as such, that His answer is no.
- Comment on Hashtag spiritual hashtag truth 1 week ago:
“Are all our prayers answered? Yes, they are. What people who ask that question often don’t realize is that sometimes the answer to our prayer is “no.” Dear God, please make my mother not be crazy. God’s answer: no. Dear God, please let me recover from cancer. God’s answer: no. Dear God, please take away this toothache. God’s answer: alright, but you’re going to be run over by a car.”

- Comment on When you wake up, how long does it take for your brain's "OS" to "resume from hibernation"? 2 weeks ago:
Mine seems to be tied to the time of day more than anything. Regards of how much sleep I get I can be groggy most of the day. For whatever reason my OS seems to power up a couple of hours after the sun goes down. All of the sudden things come into focus and I have the energy to get things done.
According to my parents I have always been this way, a natural born night person.

Yeah, that first paragraph is me a lot of the time. I thought sleep was supposed to be peaceful.

I just checked an ID at the bar where I work that had almost all of the card snapped off except for the picture. They assured me it was “valid.” Sure, I’ll just take your word on that.

I went to college in Alabama (southern USA) and my very country barber was mostly unintelligible but one day, mid-sentence, the words “statutory rape” very articulately came out of his mouth and I still wonder what the fuck that was all about.
- Comment on WTF BIT ME? 5 weeks ago:
Bedbugs as someone else said. If this was at home clean the fuck out your house. Like, deep clean. Twice. Check the seams on your mattress and pillows. If you have a clothes dryer throw in everything that is safe to put in a dryer. Leave it in there for at least an hour. You can’t imagine the psychological terror of having a potential infestation. You need to fight back hard.

For years I drove an extended fifteen passenger van countless miles across the US with a completely obscured rear window. If you know how to use your side mirrors and pay attention to traffic you will know what’s behind you. How do you think truckers do it?
- Comment on "Rizz", "cooking" and "based" are going to be stereotypical old people words one day 2 months ago:
“cooking” in the context of doing something well has been around for a long time. Think, “now you’re cooking!” Or the less common “now you’re cooking with gas!”
I think it’s just in more frequent use currently. It will be interesting to see if people stop using it after it goes out of fashion with the youth.

Before she was famous Lady Gaga used to hang out at a tiny bar in lower Manhattan. She go-go danced sometimes and was part of the scene of regulars there.
I started working there years later after she had become a superstar and a lot of those regulars still hung out there. She was still tight with them and even in a relationship with my boss. She didn’t come around much though and we had to keep things on the DL.
One night she gave an unadvertised performance in the back room with a jazz combo of some of the regulars backing her. A secret show: If you knew, you knew.
No rich person hired her. She just wanted to do something fun with her friends.
