- Comment on There are a lot of siblings that hate each other, simultaneously there are only children that feel lonely really want siblings to play with. 4 days ago:
My younger brother and I never really got along. My parents, but especially my mother, always treated him as if he could do no wrong. If we were both being loud, I got yelled at because I was the older sibling and should know better, if he broke something, I got yelled at because “why weren’t you watching him”, and just on and on. He knew he could get away with anything with them and used it as a weapon, purposely getting me in trouble. I have nothing but resentment for him. As an adult he’s almost 38, still lives with my parents, has never had a full time job, has never had a license or a car (he’s afraid to drive), and is effectively a leech on them. Over the years my parents have run into financial troubles a few times and my husband and I have bailed them out, all while watching my useless brother continue to be a drain.
And the worst part? My mom constantly lectures me about not having a better relationship with my brother. She doesn’t seem to understand the damage she did, and thinks blood is more important. I love her so I just nod along and try not to argue with her about it. After my parents pass I doubt I will have any contact with him. I expect him to be homeless and on the streets eventually, and honestly I don’t have any sympathy for him. He could be using his time right now to make a life, but instead he’s playing video games and shit-posting.
I wish I had a sibling relationship like I see some of my friends and family have. I LOVE my sister in law, and I wish she lived closer. My brother and I are just never going to get along though. We might have gotten past it if he’d ever moved out and became a real adult, but at this point it’s too late and I just don’t care.

I really don’t understand the hate for the magic mouse cursor lol. I freakin love it!

It may depend on the LG TV or maybe it’s a setting. I just bought a new one and have a Google streamer on it and use it’s remote to turn on the streamer, soundbar and TV with a single button. I never see the LG UI itself unless I need to change a setting, and I’ve disabled it’s wifi entirely. I don’t get any kind of popups from the TV, it just works cleanly with the streamer.

That’s not really true. B&H sells digital signage displays to consumers and you can buy some of them from Amazon and Best buy as well

A 32" TV is not what most people are looking for. In fact I don’t know anyone with a main TV that small these days. The problem is that 40"+ dumb TVs are hard to find. I’m not saying they don’t exist, but very few manufacturers are making them, and the few that are have garbage screens in them.

Unfortunately it’s getting hard to find dumb TVs. The only real options are pro-AV or digital signage displays but even a lot of those are now moving to being smart. Our 15 year old bedroom TV finally died last month and we ended up having to replace it, and we ultimately went with an LG. I’ve disabled it’s wifi though. It’s a frustrating situation. I wish one of the manufacturers with good displays would just offer a dumb line of TVs. I imagine they would still have a market even if they were higher cost to make up for the lack of ad revenue, but maybe I’m underestimating that revenue. Either way, avoiding smart TVs is getting extremely difficult these days.
- Comment on surely your hobby can't be that expensive 1 month ago:
My major hobby is like this mostly. Backpacking. Upfront cost for gear, but once you have it the only real recurring cost is food and gas to get to a spot. Sure sometimes you have to replace gear, but if you take care of it you can go for years with no gear costs except maybe shoes.

Supervolcano is also an option!

One of my best friends in the world bounces his leg often. He’s a bigger guy and it can definitely get annoying. I try to just let it go unless we’re sitting at a table and he’s shaking it too, then I will gently reach over and touch his knee to let him know. He immediately apologizes and stops, and I feel bad for having to say something, but I draw the line at shaking the table lol. If he’s sitting across the room from me he can bounce to his heart’s content.

This is kind of wild to me. This year we’re seeing more fireflies in my yard than we have in a long time. My husband and I have been commenting on it. At night there’s an awesome light show and it’s kind of awesome. Whatever is happening in my neighborhood they definitely like!

Correct
- Comment on You'll have to use pto time to drown, but make sure it's approved first 1 year ago:
I would rather risk homelessness and starvation rather than drowning. If the water around the place I am is rising I am going to get to safety. Full stop. No job is worth risking my life for.
I understand what you’re saying, but at the end of the day if you are dead, nothing else matters.
- Comment on Steam does the opposite of forcing Arbitration on its users 1 year ago:
Instead of Steam forcing any disputes with them to go through an “impartial” 3rd party company they choose and pay for to oversee and rule on disputes, they are saying that disputes must go through the courts.
Basically forced arbitration has always been seen as anti-consumer and unfair because the company is paying for the arbitration and is thus considered more likely to be found in favor of. Steam is doing the opposite and as such this is seen as pro-consumer and a good thing
