- Comment on do you apologize, even if it's not your fault just to make the other person feel validated? 1 week ago:
If the other person needs it and it doesn’t inconvenience me in the long term, yes. Also depends how much I care for the person in question. I don’t do this to just anyone. They usually know if they were wrong and learn from it. They don’t need me to confront them while they are vulnerable.
Doesn’t mean my feelings can’t be hurt though.
- Comment on If you argue for a cause like affordable housing for everyone, is it necessarily hypocritical if you also own investment properties? 1 week ago:
You can work within a legal framework while arguing for changing that framework to no longer benefit yourself.
- Comment on How long do we have before PCs get locked bootloaders and corporations ban installation of "non-approved" software? (for context: Google is restricting sideloading worldwide on Android ETA 2027) 1 week ago:
If you change platform keys, it looks to me like you can brick your system if hardware component drivers that execute during boot are signed by microsoft keys.
Microsoft will make sure many of their partners sign hardware drivers with their keys to be windows 11 certified of course. No other reason.
They will encourage manufacturers to only allow secure boot in UEFI. Then at some point they will stop signing UEFI loaders, like shim, that linux distros rely on to boot.

I’m not an expert. But microsoft controls secure boot signing, right?
Microsoft is also involved in setting standards and influences manufacturers. I feel like the future where secure boot is the only option and were Microsoft holds the keys is likely.
- Comment on What age gap is too big of an age gap if someone's in their early 30's? 2 weeks ago:
I would say; don’t take other peoples opinion in mind. If you make eachother happy; you are good.
If your question is focusing on the reaction of the average person. I would say the average person walking past you on the street, will not raise their eyebrow unless one of the partners looks underage. Or if the 30 year old looks significantly older than 30.
- Comment on How do I "sabotage" my own online content to throw a wrench in AI training machines? 2 weeks ago:
Replace all your comments with ai output. That will let them train on their own output. Make sure there is no original thought. Make it seem that it is in context and hard to filter out for both human and robot.

With the assumption that we are alright in there, wait until it evaporates naturally. I hope you brought a lot of books, cause depending on its mass, it can take some time.
- Comment on If I invented a shirt that caused cameras to be damaged when filmed/photographed, would I be committing a crime by wearing the shirt at events with cameras? 4 weeks ago:
Strap a lidar emitter to yourself. Those car sensors have been shown to damage cameras.

Comment on stuff I guess. Don’t worry about it. It seems to have already taken off.

Try to keep expectations low and you’ll live longer.
- Comment on I cannot hook an ethernet cable to a router because the router is using all the plugs. What is a backup to make a Lemmy instance with Yunohost? If there’s no other way, what else can I use? 4 months ago:
If you can’t pull a cable and are dependant on wi-fi, but still want a cable at the end point, buy a wi-fi bridge. You can see it as a switch that you can connect your stuff to with cables, but tje connection between the bridge and the router will be wireless wi-fi.
Your computers won’t know they are using a wireless connection.
- Comment on How can I create a Lemmy instance without coding or the use of Ethernet/router wiring? 4 months ago:
Get a Raspberry Pi. Newer models have wi-fi. Then you can host all kind of stuff. As long as it is for your own use, you don’t need that much computing power. As far as software is concerned, the type of connection physical doesn’t matter. Wi-fi stability can be excellent or it can be super frustrating. Depending on your circumstance.
Get one and try it. Learn by doing.
- Comment on Why do people insist on not answering ALL the questions in an email or text message? 5 months ago:
The reader might think that your questions are overlaping, making adressing every question redundant. You might want clarity. The reader thinks you can figure it out based on their one answer. They don’t want to spend the time to confirm that which you already have the tools to get to yourself.
- Comment on Do animals think we're cute? 5 months ago:
I read something about some resarchers looking at what goes on in the brains of elephants when interracring with humans. They concluded that it was similar to the reaction when humans encounter cute things. Was a really long time since i read that.

Buy a microscope and look at some bacteria. They evolve fast, in real time, by the same principles other living organisma do.
Science is the process of observing, puting forth hypothesis based on observation and then doing your best to disprove that. It is the best method humankind has figured out for getting to truths about what we see around us. If you want absolute proofs, look no further than maths. In the real world, we do the best we can with science. Religion does not fulfill the same role as science do. Religion is not even close to the same concept as science. Religion is more akin to fictional works, like Tolkiens, lord of the rings.
- Comment on low iq in love with high iq person, is that bad?? 6 months ago:
Iq means very little other than being am idicator of how good you are at iq tests.
Probably doen’t apply to everyone, but i feel like intelligent people experience a lot of stress asociated with performing to surrounding expectations. They tend to be less stressed when hanging around people they don’t need to perform for.
In your case, ask him about it. He might feel perfectly content around you. You might even be a calming presence.
I’d say me and my partner are equals. But I imagine I would have no Issue If they were less intellectually inclined. Or more for that matter.
- Comment on Can you eat soap for acid reflux? 6 months ago:

- Comment on Syncthing Android app discontinued 10 months ago:
Not sure I understand the reasoning for discontinuing. Google standing in the way? Not enough f-droid users benefiting from it? It didn’t see development cause it was already feature complete?
