A testament to how hardy fish are. If you have fish dying in an aquarium; you shouldn’t have pets.
- Comment on They're called leaves for a reason. 3 days ago:
Colony collapse was due to fungicides being sprayed in the day. -Bees don’t need extra pollen (they have plenty of food to spare which is why we have honey as a product), and they don’t need people’s lawns (pick the leaves up before winter).
Leaving leaves is just being an asshole neighbor making safe paths for vermin to get into houses, and reduce the value of neighboring properties.

Wars are fought with propaganda. This war isn’t special.

I used to have Dolby Digital and DTS audio. I don’t anymore, thanks to Pipewire. Meanwhile, my custom DWM works flawlessly.
- Comment on So let’s talk about this Wayland thing 1 year ago:
AFAIK, it just came out of ‘early development’, and I haven’t seen any publicity on it since. It’s also only supported by a few distros. -Fedora isn’t one, and considering it’s one of the distros that’s pushing hard on Wayland.

Sway isn’t dynamic. Sway is for idiots that try to do everything ‘new user-friendly’ when it’s barely any easier (if at all) than much better options.

Might be the reason I switch from Fedora to OpenSUSE. While it solves problems for some, it’s not ready for others. One of the few (legit) reasons to use Linux is the dynamic tiling window managers. -Wayland (atm) takes away that reason.

As much as I hate Go ogle, it is up to us to choose. -Sad part is all but Yandex is burying the same information as Go ogle it seems.

That didn’t stop the circle-jerking, romanticism, and ignorance of the sub’s participants, or the ridiculous and inordinate amount of positive and negative karma coming from subs about weevils, for example. Easy karma just for posting ‘aww lawd, here we go again’ in r/bedbugs. Post a pic of a steak in r/steaks with ‘cast iron’ and ‘reverse sear’ and get easy karma too. - Post the same steak or even a much better one with ‘tri-clad / air fryer’ and get nothing. -First-hand experience with a crappy AI generated steak and one I put in an air fryer for 25 minutes at 180F before finishing in a tri-clad. -Edge to edge medium looking better than 99% of theirs. -lol. (The karma system is shit)

I’ve been learning to control the outrage, and figuring out ways to turn things around. It’s like my time with conspiracy theories helped me to discern bullshit, fact check, be objective, etc.

I felt it was enough to hint that.-lol Criticism of alternatives being too much like Reddit hasn’t been well received.

Reddit was never a place to go to for facts. Reddit has always hated facts.

There are no unions in self employment. I recommend you stop leeching off others and try working for your self.
- Comment on Why are people hyped about RSS regaining relevance? 1 year ago:
When I ran a site, I dropped it because of the server load and lack of ad revenue from it. (My site was getting taken down by the host server, but probably mostly for another issue). That said, most sites seem to have a feed (though often hidden) and there are third parties that can make a feed for virtually any site.

I’m 52 years old. I learned from experience having been in multiple unions. Keep going with assumptions and propaganda. -Don’t forget to ‘collectively’ down-vote what you can’t reason against.
- Comment on SAG-AFTRA Seeks Approval for Second Strike Against Video Game Companies 1 year ago:
A lot of predatory union propaganda. Be sure to call your union to down-vote, because that’s the kind of stupid collective shit unions do.
- Comment on SAG-AFTRA Seeks Approval for Second Strike Against Video Game Companies 1 year ago:
And they would have if the Union didn’t interfere with their job codes bullshit.
- Comment on SAG-AFTRA Seeks Approval for Second Strike Against Video Game Companies 1 year ago:
Union workers can and do make minimum wage even with plenty of experience and years on the job. Unions take dues on that minimum wage, so they take home even less. Unions target higher paying jobs for your propaganda statistic. People lose union jobs because they aren’t permitted to work jobs they can perform. Good workers don’t want to sit out temporarily ‘collecting’ like the lazy people that like unions.
- Comment on SAG-AFTRA Seeks Approval for Second Strike Against Video Game Companies 1 year ago:
Do you like dead beat workers bringing down your earning potential? - Thank unions! DO you like having your employer not able to provide suitable work for you when injured? -Thank unions! Do you like someone forcing you to fork over a portion of your taxable income? - Thank unions! Do you like people abusing ‘sick time’? - Thank unions!
- Comment on SAG-AFTRA Seeks Approval for Second Strike Against Video Game Companies 1 year ago:
Not being pro-union doesn’t mean pro corporate. dumb dumb
- Comment on SAG-AFTRA Seeks Approval for Second Strike Against Video Game Companies 1 year ago:
No one deserves a union. Unions aren’t a good thing.
- Comment on An Instacart customer said she discovered the app's higher prices cost her nearly $100 after accidentally seeing the store's paper receipt 1 year ago:
I used Instacart through the pandemic until vaccines were available. I knew about the markups, but couldn’t easily figure them out. -That’s not the problem I have with Instacart.
The big problem is their ability to leverage a discount from the store, which is even harder to figure out (outside of hearsay). -This makes it far more difficult for personal shoppers to compete on their own, or for customers to acquire a quality personal shopper they can rely on for a competitive rate.
- Comment on In light of articles all over Lemmy about Google pushing ManifestV3 onto Chrome and the majority of web users, isn't that an antitrust violation? 1 year ago:
Firefox gets most of it’s funding from Google. Mozilla is playing politics, which is self-defeating. Louis is becoming the next Alex Jones. When it comes to tech; FOSS can typically run years behind, especially for large, complicated programs like web browsers. The search engine revenue is what’s keeping them afloat. Our primary goal should be to get people off the Google search engine, which is the moneymaker. It would be nice to have an ad blocker that only blocked Google Ads too.
